I think its terrible. Their worst to date. They said they changed their sound, they certainly made it poppier (which was hard to do).

I think it's pretty decent. Definitely not better than anything they've already released, but it doesn't suck.

Yeah, I'm really trying to let it grow on me but, I dunno...

I'm a huge hip-hop fan, and I first heard Linkin Park on Collision Course with Jay-Z. After that, I got into their first two albums (way after their wave of popularity hit, lol).

I was really looking forward to this album, but it's not doing much for me. Then again, I'm more of a hip-hop purist, and this album seems to have alot less rap vocals and beats.

Honestly I haven't heard the whole thing (I haven't made the effort and I kinda want to wait for the actual release), but I thought this might happen. I figured once Mike Shinoda started up Fort Minor that they would cut back on the rapping because he has another outlet for it. I think if I come away liking 3-5 songs on the CD, it'll be about what I expect cause I'm not a huge Linkin Park fan

            Decent Album.

Shinoda only raps in 2 of the tracks.

            My 3 favorite tracks are:

            Shadow Of The Day
            Leave Out All The Rest
            What I've Done

Shadow Of The Day might be my favorite LP song of all-time. I can already picture this song appearing in the next Zack Braff film (if it's a Garden State/The Last Kiss type film).

The band went all out for the CD/DVD combo. The special edition includes a hard bound book with Linen-wrapped cover with embossing on front, 32 pages of full-color artwork and lyrics. MVI DVD includes downloadable MP3s for all tracks; the "What I've Done" video; "Making Of" videos of Minutes To Midnight and "What I've Done"; a "What I've Done" ringtone; a photo gallery, booklet in PDF, screensavers, and lyrics.

pretty much. I'm not that big a fan, they're one of the few rock/alternative/pop/whatever groups I give a listen to, but this **** is terrible.

Re: Linkin Park- "Minutes To Midnight"

I listened through it once and thought it was complete crap. I've listened now probably close to a dozen times and it's "slowly" growing on me. This is definitely not the Linkin Park we are use to. I use to love their music to get pumped up and/or drive to. This album is not that type of music at all. I'm definitely a little disappointed. I was hoping for good high energy stuff. But this album is not bad by any means. It's still a must for any Linkin Park fan. Oh well, guess we'll just have to wait 2 years for the remixes of all these songs.

                          Thanks,
                          DaHokieBird

12 sounds isn't much. wish they would put more on the cd. anyway, at first listen i thought it was decent but it's grown on me the more i hear it. its not the best cd from them but it's not bad. I'll list my favorite songs.

Top Tier (songs that will be in good rotation):

Shadow of the day: Really good song. Sounds more like a Coldplay type song than a Linkin Park joint.

Leave Out all the Rest: Not a headbanger but another mid-tempo type song that 's really good.

What I've Done: I like Somewhere I Belong a little more than this first single. Still good though. Good choice for them though because anything else would hurt their fanbase. Given up is probably the only other one they could've put out as #1 single.

Middle Tier (songs that I will listen too but will probably move on from):

Given Up: Sounds like a typical Linkin Park song. Is it like the other classics. no, but it's not bad.

Little Things that Go Away: Very long song. Definitely won't wake you up. Just depends on the mood you're in.

Hands Held High: A message song here. Speaks about Iraq/Bush. Not bad but don't see much lasting power with this.

Valentines Day: Slower type song that gains pace towards the end. It's ok.

Low Tier (songs that I will listen to until the next big album comes out...50...r.kelly)

Bleed It Out: Sounds like a sports music type song. I really like the rapping/Shinoda type songs from the other two albums but this song isn't too good.

In Between: This is a weird song.

                            In Pieces: Not good

No More Sorrow: not feeling it at all. hard beat but not liking it.

                            Wake: Intro

Compare this to Meteora where i gave 9/13 songs middle/top tier. Meteora was really good and this is just different. If you like Coldplay type stuff then you won't mind the slower songs. if you don't then you will hate this cd.

Shadow of the Day would be Top 10 song on the Hot 100. This definitely would cross over. I hate to say it again but this sounds exactly like a Coldplay ("talk") type song.

I don't know about Leave out all the rest. I really like this song but I'm not sure how this would do on radio. I think it would do well but not a definite smasher to the masses.

Overall, my prediction and I'm pretty good with soundscan predictions. I think this kills in the first week with 500-700k in sales but it will drop off the top 100 much sooner than the other two. I could see it going 2x-3x platinum but that's the most it can go. You never know though. The right 2nd single could help alot.

This album is growing on me. I am glad they changed their sound. A good majority of their music sounds the same after awhile and its a breath of fresh air they went in a new direction.

You can only have so much teenage angst music.
