Greatest SNL cast member?
Maybe the question should have been Ferrel or Farley? After watching the SNL special saturday, I was curious to hear people's opinons on this. I think it is between these 2 guys with maybe Mike Myers in the top 3. I think Sandler is waay overrated, but I know people love him. Any thoughts?Tags: None -

Ummmm
As good as those guys are i'd have to go old school and say Bill Murray or Eddie Murphy. As for more modern guys Phil Hartman was VERY good. I still miss him.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Greatest SNL cast member?
I would say either Belushi, Ferrell, Carvey, or Murray. Carvey was probably the most talented of the three, Murray probably the most versatile, but Belushi and Ferrell could make any skit funny. Honorable mention to Chevy Chase, but I haven't been able to find him funny since his failed talk show.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

I'll go by decade:
70's: (tie)Bill Murray, John Belushi
80's: Edde Murphy
90's: (tie)Chris Rock, Adam Sandler

Re: Greatest SNL cast member?
I think SNL is all about nostaligia. Ya it's easy to look back and it was better then. But in reality if they have 2 or 3 skits an episode that's funny that's good for SNL and it's always been that way.Comment

Re: Greatest SNL cast member?
It's a good question but hard to classify a greatest member. Hartman and Ferrell were probably the most versatile imo, but then you have to say the same about Akroyd and Murray. Hartman could do any sketch but never had a real standout character. Eddie Murphy for his time probably had the most wattage/star power while still on the show. Myers had a lot of good/enduring characters. And I think Sandler deserves to be in the conversation alsoHBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: Greatest SNL cast member?
If you watch any of the old episodes the show had the same ups and downs. It wasn't like Belushi and the old crew were batting 1.00. Even some of their skits weren't getting that many laughs.
