I've had an in-dash nav unit on my last 2 cars (accord and toyota prius) and now my current one (mustang). The one i have on my mustang is a 3rd party deal. It's an Eclipse 5500. The 2 weeks that I first had my car I felt lost without my nav unit. I had 3 places to go that I'd never been and I hate having to read my yahoo & google maps while I drive. It's kind of dangerous looking down and reading, then looking up, slowing down, not driving straight... bassically driving like an azzhat.
I'm glad that GPS's are becoming more and more affordable.
Toyota is now starting to offer portable GPS's on new cars. They'll install the car kit on your dash for you. It's really cool.
I hope that in the next 5yrs they start becoming standard (be it portable or in-dash) on all models of cars.
I have GPS on my cell phone. I compared it to one of the higher mid range stand-alone models, and it performed very well.
I have one on my new Samsung A610 but I can never get it to work, it always tells me, "Find a better location in the sky." WTF is that suppose to mean!?
