A&E Reality Show Exposed as a Fraud

Atlanta Fox affiliate shows A&E's 'Flip This House' is a fraud.

Not that some real estate show is big news but it makes you wonder how many other 'reality' shows are scripted. For example does American Idol fix the results to get higher ratings?

There's a reason that they aren't verified by a reputable third party.

I never knew that, but that really makes me think the show is incredibly fixed.

Take this year, Sanjayah stayed around long enough to generate ratings but not enough to tarnish their precious Idol Gives Back. It isn't like he ever stayed over someone who had a chance to win the show.

Basically the show stated that a guy bought the house to flip. In reality he was a contractor of some sort who contracted with owners to rehab the houses for a fee plus costs. The show stated houses were sold by the guy when in reality they are still on the market. It also showed that show producers paid a landscaper to come in and give some aesthetic touch ups for cameras only to remove the plans after the cameras were off.

Yeah, and I have a feeling that they go int there and trash the place(nothing strucural, but place dirt, garbage, etc.) before they start the renovations so it looks like they did alot more than they actually did.

Some new paint and carpet/hardwood floors can make a house look 1000 times better

I turned on Deal or No deal while waiting for Heroes on Monday. And I am convinced that the way the contestants act is scripted. This lady was just too over the top. Some one needs to investigate the validity of that show. I am sure they can't fix the prize money because of the previous game show scandals but there is something fishy about that show.

Re: A&E Reality Show Exposed as a Fraud

Originally, "Flip this House" was started by Richard Davis and "Trademark Properties". This group was based in South Carolina. I used to watch the show back then and I think this group was legit. After the first season Trademark had a falling out with A&E. Trademark (who had the idea for the show in the first place I believe) was told to get lost and A&E brought in new groups. One was the Montelongos in San Antonio and the other was Sam Leccima's group in Atlanta. I trust the Montelongo's about as much as I trust Leccima, which is none.

Trademark has since sued A&E (There is a website about it somewhere, forget the name) and now has a new show called "The Real Deal" on TLC.

The whole happenings behind Flip This House is a black eye on A&E as a whole. Wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if A&E was quite aware of what was going on.

Me too, and I've thought that for a very long time.

I'm 99% sure that everyone on Survivor are actor/aspiring actors/etc...

They all have perfect teeth. I know, that seems like a strange thing to base it on... but go to the mall... the office... whatever... the average adult in the US does not have perfectly straight, sparkling white teeth... these people do.

You do realize you have to try out to be on Survivor, right? Its not like you apply and they call you and tell you you're on it.

Yes, I realize that... but I also know that they "recruit" for Survivor, Big Brother, etc... at modeling agencies, acting studios, etc...

So? Still doesnt make the show a fraud. And most of the contestants are normal people.
