Re: R. Kelly...Egotist much?
Yeah he should have added, he's a child molestor everyday. That will never go to jail for it....
Amazing what the Law will let you get away with, just because you sing or consider yourself a legendary artist...
He get the babygirls, and MJ get the baby boys.....The world is a sick place..
When you can appreciate someone's talent, regardless of their moral standards of life, which make them bad people...
Nothing like overshadowing a persons true demons, with a nice song about booty and money.....Comment

Re: R. Kelly...Egotist much?
I wouldn't go that far. I love JT and his work, but a lot of his success stems from great producing (namely Timbaland). Not saying Kelly doesn't either, but still. JT had a good album (Justified) and a great album (Futuresex/Lovesounds) -- Kelly arguably 3-4 great albums.Originally posted by EWRMETSMaybe the best post in OS's history. Re: R. Kelly...Egotist much?
TP.3 Reloaded was pure crap to me. To me, I felt like Kelly didn't even try. The only good song off that entire album was "Touchin" featuring Nivea in my opinion and that's my jam.Originally posted by EWRMETSMaybe the best post in OS's history. "Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Man I gotta disagree with that.

If Double Up is going to be his best ever, man, that's damn good. I think R. was his best up to now.Last edited by trobinson97; 05-23-2007, 03:50 AM.PS: You guys are great.

Re: R. Kelly...Egotist much?
I think Double Up has the potential to be his best. And, although R. is amazing, I personally prefer TP-2.com as his best album. Every song on that album is pure heat and one of the best R&B albums released in my opinion.Originally posted by EWRMETSMaybe the best post in OS's history. His best album to date? Not quite...
Got the album today and gave it a listen (yeah, it's out there). I gotta say, definitely not his best. It's another step in the evolution of his thug mentality I guess.
There's a lot of cursing. A lot. Of course, cursing in and of itself is nothing particularly new, but in the past it was used in moderation. It borders on excessive to my ears these days and gets in the way of some of the songs. A lot of N-bombs thrown around as well as well as the other censor worthy words that have become so standard in mainstream hip hop. I guess he making a further case for his self-titled moniker, the King of R&B/Hip Hop. Lot of champagne poppin, sex, and flossin. There's even a few songs where he's basically rapping in that sing-song hybrid style like Nelly. I'm not feeling it on first listen, and most of the time that's all it takes for me.
That's not to say I don't like some stuff. There are some songs I do like. For one there's Rise Up, which was dedicated to the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting. It's a stark contrast to the rest of the album as you can imagine. It's the second to last track on the album (Actually listed as the last on Amazon, but there's a UK/Japan bonus track on this version) so there is like a huge shift in emotions having listened to the first parts of the album (I.E. the song before is called Sex Planet). Still, it's a nice song, not an I Believe I can Fly, but solid.
There is also Same Girl featuring Usher. I liked this song, but when I heard it was hoping it would be one of the weaker songs on the album. It turned out to be one of the stronger ones along with I'm a Flirt (which I was surprised was edited considering the rest wasn't). There's also some nice production in here. It just sucks that a lot of the subject matter kills it for me (there's an instance in one song where the guy is actually talking about his toilet tissue preferences because one type cuts into his ***). Sex Planet has a nice slow groove, but again, subject matter which shouldn't be too hard considering the title of the song.
There's plenty featured artists here. From Swizz Beats to Kid Rock. It's too bad it really didn't help. I said before that I hadn't heard an R. Kelly album that I didn't like. Well, now I can no longer say that. It has nothing on R., TP2.com, Chocolate City or those other great albums. Don't get me wrong, I am pretty sure some will like it but after the talk about this being possibly his best album, I was expecting something special. For him to better his previous albums, it would have to be. However, I got the crap I get from mainstream hip hop in song form; tales of sex, partying, more sex, and flossin'...and more sex. Not that any of that is new to the man, but in the past he always found a balance between it, introspection and inspiration. I can honestly say I think it's his worst.PS: You guys are great.
