Re: Paris Hilton's sentenced is reduced

You don't ever want to see a kid of yours in jail. If we're talking about anything above minimum security it's pretty much hell on earth. Even those minimum security outfits aren't all they're cracked up to be when TV personalities like to give them a sunny spin. You might get some very damaged goods back when they're released. Short of them having murdered someone (maybe even then) I would do anything possible, anything within my power to keep a kid of mine from seeing the inside of a prison. Heck, I'd probably do the same for a very close friend depending on the circumstances. I'm Italian though, so I'm sure you can take a wild guess at how I view the good of society versus the good of the family.

The ridiculous aspect of the good behavior waiver, is that Paris Hilton treated the officer that pulled her over as if he were below her, to the point where she suggested he didn't understand the citation form he was filling out, and that he was the one in the wrong. In all the stories I've encountered involving police officers pulling motorists over, treating them respectfully went a long way towards them working with the motorist and potentially reaching a less harsh punishment; even if that be at trial months down the road. Paris didn't even do that, and she's rewarded a lesser sentence on good behavior.

It's a disgrace to the judicial system. I'm not even sure if America's judicial system claims to be fair and just anymore, but it's proven to be anything but numerous times in even the most recent history.

I don't think it's fair to criticize the American legal system for California's bastardization of justice. Think about it, more often than not these bastardizations come from California. It isn't often you hear about the Texas Court system letting people off easily. H

She better be glad she didn't do this in Maricopa County,Arizona. Sheriff Joe wouldn't care who she was, she'd be living in tent city.

I don't know too many parents who would be proud of their kid for that kind of behavior.
proud or not, I'd still try to keep my kid out of jail. i'm not saying the parents sound any better than paris... but they're the parents, and they're trying everything to keep their kid out of jail.

Maybe if your family is worth several billion dollars. I have several 'friends' who did prison time and none of them had parents 'uphold'ing them.

The money doesn't have anything to do with what I was saying. Heck, here in the town where I live, a 17 year old kid shot another guy four times in front of no less than 20 witnesses(my brother being one of them) Yet,his family is going around beating the "my son didn't do this, and this is a frame up" drum. So it happens. Sounds to me like your friends have parents that have the "you screwed up,so take the penalty" type of attitude. There's nothing wrong with that.

What's really weird is the fact that he's citing the court apperance that she showed up late for has part of the good behavior.

So now she only gets 23 days for good behavior before going to jail.
                    LOL what a joke.

They should just ban her from going out between 8:00 pm and 6:00am for a year, that would hurt her more than 23 days in jail.
