Re: Windows VISTA = Resource Hog
That's not good. It leaves little room for anything else to be run.
Like Candy stated, if you only surf the web - then it's fine. However if you ever plan on doing multiple things, you're going to see some issues.
Just tonight I was trying to open a 8mb Word 2003 document and it took a good 30 seconds to open because Vista was churning. I had FF open, Word 2003, printer window and task manager. Took a total of 1GB of RAM (I have 2GB so that shouldn't happen). This stuff should never happen nowadays. It felt like loading a website on a 9600 baud modem.Comment

Re: Windows VISTA = Resource Hog
I'm really confused as to why most of you guys who are running Vista with capable systems experience slow-downs. I'm running Vista on a dual-core 2.4GHz CPU, 2GB RAM, & NVIDIA 7600 GST graphics card and I hardly experience any slow-down. And that's with me running firefox, yahoo messenger, windows media player (watching videos or listening to music), and even Photoshop all at the same time.
When I have absolutely nothing running at all, I idle at 29% usage of RAM. Right now, I'm using up 51%.Comment

It is recommended though that people have at least 1GB of RAM and if you play games on your PC, 2GB.Comment

Re: Windows VISTA = Resource Hog
That's the thing, what's the point of having so much RAM in your computer if you aren't going to use it? What Vista does is use your RAM to make all your processes run faster rather than letting your RAM idle being used for nothing. I've been using Vista for 3 months now and I think its way better than XP.
