Some pretty cool stuff. The two I immediately thought of were the opening scene of Boogie Nights and the Copa sequence in Goodfellas. The Boogie Nights scene is pretty incredible, imo. I agree with the sentiment that super-long takes are basically just frilly, directorial excesses that only serve to prove what a talented director someone is without adding much to the movies....but they're still pretty cool.

Tony Jaa in the protector was nice. I just knew that they'd include that one. Great action scene all the way.http://neverfollow.biz (Independent Music Group) -

I actually thought the other long take in Children of Men (in the battle scene) was better than the car chase one.Comment

Re: Hollywood's Greatest Long Takes
For whatever reason, I am a complete sucker for the long take. Something about everything working perfectly for that one great extended scene.
My love for Boogie Nights is based partially on the fact that the movie had 3 long takes in it (beginning, middle, ending).Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!Comment
