By "wayyyyyy" back you mean last year?

Frankly I'm happy with the decision about E3. No more forcing developers to create "target videos" that won't be a reality this gen (if EVER) nor for the developers *****ing about the coverage of their game in the press (a la Dennis Dyack of Silicon Knights).

Let the devs show their games when they are ready, so that hype, if built, is appropriate. Show 'Too Human' six months or a year from release (witness the new screens and vids), not two years out!

I much prefer the dev or console specific game shows to the mess that was E3.

I don't know... on the net it seems like every other day I'm seeing another trailer for an upcoming game.
Just today I saw Assassins Creed and the new BIA trailers.

You do know that E3 was just downsized, moved from LA, and closed off to anybody but the media right?

I liked it best in the late 90s when you'd just get magazines and be completely surprised at whatever happened. With daily internet updates, it just takes the fun out of it.

Exactly! The devs and publishers wanted their big properties there for the public to digest no matter WHAT state that game was actually in.

With the new format, the media should be more accomodating and allowing that only near finished products are shown (those that will actually RELEASE in calendar or fiscal year 2007).

Not sure what in my post stated something different...

Re: Ahhh E3 ..The good ole days

Problem with E3 was that developers would hold back information until E3 to "let the cat out of the bag". Which meant games like NCAA and possibly DiRT would have had little PR prior to E3. So the middle of April to E3 was a dead time for games as well as PR materials. There was some but mostly it was bits of information to hype up the E3 material.

No E3 means we get more information earlier because game companies don't have to hold back and can start hyping their game on their time tables.

I'm pretty shocked that someone else didn't jump in and do their own E3 this year. I'm assuming it was a fairly rich commercial success.

Guys... there still is an E3... it's in July in Santa Monica. It's different now with more private meetings and less pomp and circumstance... but it's still E3.

Yeah that was the sarcastic when I said Wayyy back, and I read that it was downsized but I liked looking forward to downloading the clips and the buzz on here...
