    Starwars?

This is one of the dumb question, but here it goes. Did Lucas create Starwars or did he get the story from someone else and did he just make it into a movie? Thanks!

He created it all, though he drew from several major influences. Most notably, Kurosawa's "The Hidden Fortress."

I heartily recommend watching "Empire of Dreams," the documentary about the making of the original trilogy included on the DVD release of the movies. It goes into a lot of the influences that Lucas drew upon, original character concepts, first drafts of the scripts, etc.

Star Wars also draws heavily from an old musical composition (the name and composer escape me right now), various religions, and various mythologies. George Lucas just really made an awesome modern day tragedy out of re-imagined characters. I have a book of Star Wars concept art, and you can see some of the influences from Asia, Greece, and Rome.

What about Germany, were the SS troopers helmets kinda knocked off for the Star Wars Stormtroopers, even used the same name heh.

I just caught the replay of this tonight (Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed). Great program. Really cool how they tie in the Star Wars saga (characters, stories, etc.) to Greek mythology, Christianity, the Roman Empire, and just human historical events. If you are a fan of the movies, or are just curious about this kind of stuff, I encourage you to check it out. Not sure when it'll be shown again. I recorded it so I'll probably watch it again at some point or show it to a friend or two if they missed it.
