there's one in shelbyville, indiana about 20 minutes away from my house. i try to get there about once a year. i like that they've gone to putting the volume on fm .... especially if you have a good system in your car.

Yes... we have a drive-in that is less than five minutes away. Last weekend I took my wife and two kids to see Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End at the drive-in. Always good times. My six year-old daughter fell asleep before the movie even started while waiting for darkness.

Unfortunately, they closed down the drive-in that was less than two miles from my house. I had some great times there during high school. In 1992, during my senior year of high school, I believe I went to see the movie Sleepwalker's, based on Stephen King's unpublished novel, ten times in three weeks.

I still don't think that I've seen the whole movie. There was always too many other things going on at the drive-in. It was actually like an outdoor party at our drive-in.

That sucks. Last weekend the people next to me brought two large Papa John's pizzas into the drive-in. They had bought them right across the street from the drive-in and placed them in the trunk before they drove in.

We have a couple around here if I remember correctly. I saw the first Star Wars at a drive-in in 1977. I was four at the time and remember sitting on the tailgate of my dad's pickup truck. I also saw Empire and Return at the drive-in as well. We didn't have any for a long long time and I'm glad to see them making their return.

There was one a few miles from my place, but it shut down last summer. They're a dying breed.

We have a two screen drive-in here in Springfield on "Historic" Route 66! We'll probably try it out once, though I can't stand the greedy proprietor. It's unfortunately either the drive-in or the monopoly of Kerasotes theaters for movies here.
