Re: Should i get XM or Sirius this weekend?...

I've had Sirus for 2yrs and XM was in my Accord which I had for a year.

    My Vote is Sirus

I prefer rock music and Sirus has the better of the rock stations.
Same deal with HipHop and R&B, Sirus wins.

I'd rather have the NFL over MLB.
It's a lot nicer sitting in the Boat in the fall where it's a mix of 70s and 80s outside listening to games than sweating to death with the heat index of 101 during the summer months. I'll just stay inside during the summer and watch all the games on Extra Innings baseball package.

well... finally made my "choice" tonight... after having both services, I decided (at this time), that XM was "it" for me.. I called to cancel my Sirius service, for the fact that where I live, I constantly lose reception (which is the drawback to Sirius). XM has their satellites in a stationary orbit above the earth, while Sirius has the kind that is on "the move" over the US.. Right now, my XM radio is facing a wall, yes a WALL, & I get great reception.. Even after having my Sirius antenna in the window, I had to constantly move it to get any sort of signal (even when it shows it is aiming at the satellite).

Plus, XM is going to have all the major NCAA conferences now (Big Ten, Big Twelve, Pac 10, ACC, SEC, etc), with just a few teams still to be brought in (Florida will be included in '09).

So with the NHL, MLB, O & A, and the rest, my needs are set...

Just FYI, unless there was a news release, there is no Big 12 football on XM. I checked their sports section on their website and did not see Big 12 listed.

XM Satellite (XMSR) Announces Agreement with ESPN TV (DIS) to Carry Big 12 Conference Sports

XM Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: XMSR) and ESPN Regional Television (NYSE: DIS) announced XM will carry Big 12 Conference sports under a new, multi-year agreement. With the addition of the Big 12, XM is now the official satellite radio network for all six BCS conferences in college sports.

Starting this fall, XM will air select Big 12 football games each week and the Big 12 football championship. XM will also air select Big 12 men's and women's basketball games, as well as complete coverage of the Big 12 men's and women's basketball tournaments.

taken from an XM site (the original article I tried to link but it is gone)

as far as what teams will be aired, I don't know (Texas is one of them though)..

I'd recommend Sirius. I don't think the Hip Hop stations are all that bad...could use less DJ's and more just straight music, but they still are decent. Shade 45 generally plays pretty good music and the All Out Show with Rude Jude and Lord Sear is pretty good.

Also, I don't know if any of you guys have ever listened to Jim Breuer's show "Breuer Unleashed" on Raw Dog from like 4-6pm eastern, but that is a pretty decent show too. I think it takes a little while to get used to it, but it can be pretty funny at times.
