I know I'll be watching. It's great for the hilarity factor, seeing ESPN totally do this up like any other sporting event. I'm sure they'll be pushing commercials with Joey and asking if he'll be the first American to win Nathan's in a long time.

Well if he can eat 59.5 in one sitting that means:

3 meals a day = 178.5 a day
178.5 * 7 days in a week = 1,249.5 / week
1,249.5 a week * 52 weeks in a year = 64,974 hotdogs

I dunno... he has a pretty valid point, IMO. Those hot dogs could go to Africa to help try and feed the thousands of people that have little food and look like skeletons with skin on there. But of course, we love competition, and food... add those together, and you've got one hell of a television show.

It's just the American way.

Well starving is a pretty bad thing. I'm just pointing out we live in selfish society. Those hot dogs (or whatever else they eat in the eating league) are better off going to people that really need it. I can extend this argument to pretty much everything else. But it is what it is.
