It's MILES above the 3G, and somewhat noticeably faster than the 3GS.
A few groups have posted comparisons for video and pics and the iPhone has edged the others out, although they all have strengths and weaknesses.
In terms of speed, I would personally say it's almost too fast. I'm certainly not used to it. But the Evo is no slouch either. We compared my friends Evo on Wednesday and they were close, with the iPhone slightly faster in just about everything, even internet speed (3G to 3G, no full 4G support here in NYC yet).
I still can't get used to the slight delay when scrolling with the Evo and other android phones. While they respond to touch, the iPhone feels like you're actually touching the pictures and such. Response feels 1:1.
I would say those newer android powered phones are very nice and you can't go either way. But what Apple does best (app store, user experience) can't be matched by Google just yet. They are certainly much closer than before.
