Correct.

You then can enroll in the Edge Program again or sign a 2 year contract.

These monthly payment programs just seem like huge rip-offs to me, personally. I'd rather own my phone outright for ~$300 right away, as opposed to ~$700 over almost 2 years.

The thing is, you don't really own it by paying $300 either. You have a contract and a termination fee starting in the $300 range. The only way to truly own your phone right away is by paying the full outright price.

Either way, I don't think any of the early upgrade plans are worth it. For example:

My friendly suggestion? Stay away.

You already dislike the iPad - the iPhone will be no different.

I'm probably buying another iPad when the new Air comes out lol. I admit, it's the best tablet, period.

You're paying for that phone over two years. That subsidy is in there. Don't be fooled. At least with T-Mobile, you can pay of the balance of your device at any time. I think T-Mobile's plan is good for me because I only keep a phone about 9-12 months.

I'm not gonna argue that Next is right for everyone, but it's really not one size fits all. On the plan they chose in that graphic, it's less cost effective. But on larger plans meant for families, Next makes a whole lot more sense. Plus, after you factor in things like employer discounts and different phones, things change even more.

That's not quite right. They also give you a discount on your line, for me it would be $10/month, over two years that adds up to $240, so essentially you're paying $540 vs $700 over two years for the phone.

I went through the steps on the website to do this, and it doesn't say anything about having to turn in my existing phone (Galaxy S4) is that right?

I made the mistake of getting a 16GB 5S in Jan. I like the iphone more for group messaging and prefer how some apps are on here than on android, however, unsure what to get now.

I know the group messaging is huge for me, much easier when most of your fam/friends have an iphone. If I bought the 32/64, I wouldn't even think of getting a new phone right now.

I'm not totally sure about online but I know for sure that if you are not due for an upgrade that you have to trade your phone in to enroll in the Early Edge Program.

I would call customer service to be sure or even go into a store if you can.

I'm finally leaving iphone after so many years using iphones only. After the news of the new iphone 6 and seeing the little they've done I'm waiting on the new HTC one M8 coming in October with a better camera. I grew tired of IOS and the new 6 is more of the same with a bigger screen for me. Let's see how it goes for me.
