My hard drive went out and I went to have a new one installed.I took out a memory stick out from another PC and the guy who installed my hard drive said that it would be compatible I got a new operating system delivered to my house because I had not kept the original disc. Anyway I then got a new dsl installed and after getting my new service finally going I am getting computer freezes. IN the middle of burning cds and while on the internet. I have virus protection galore as well as so called pc antifreezing programs. All I want to know is could it be that the added 256 memory(from a generic pc) to the already 512mb on my Compaq, cause my pc to freeze up? I also removed certain progams to to try and aliminate these probles and still no good I really need someones help...............

There's a good chance that stick of memory is causing the problem. I would remove that stick of memory and see if the problem continues to occur.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists Association -

It sounds like your issue is the memory stick... it might not be compatible with the mobo.
And all you guys keep saying get a Mac... Macs are for people who don't know how to use a PC correctly.Rose City 'Til I Die

take out the memory stick, backup all your important data (you should have a separate HDD for important info anyway), format, and start from scratch.Comment
