    Genarlow Wilson released

    AP Story

For those who had never heard of the story, ESPN did an E-Ticket article on him a while ago and I found it a little disturbing. This could happen to anyone, and I hate DA's who press charges on people just for the sake of it.

I saw it on CNN just now... I'm really happy for him and his mother. I hope he'll be able to put this behind him and move on with his plans.

That's very nice to hear. I read that ESPN article they did on him and I was disappointed with how his case turned out. Good to see real justice being served this time.

I'm glad he isn't going to jail for that term, but I will say that putting yourself in those situations isn't usually a good idea. A room of guys seemingly running a train on a girl is a situation that rarely ends well.

The piece on ESPN a while back had me a bit "throwed". I really hate how it turned out for him. It's good that he is to be released but, if I read correctly, he's still going to have to register as a sex offender which is a life sentence in itself.

According to the AP article, he won't have to register as a sex offender:

The judge threw out Genarlow Wilson's previous sentence and amended it to misdemeanor aggravated child molestation with a 12-month sentence, plus credit for time served. Under the new ruling, he will not be required to register as a sex offender.

I saw the story on OTL. Been keeping an eye on it ever since. Although, he isn't technically out of the jail yet because the Attorney General is appealing the ruling. Ugh.

                        the DA isn't appealing...

A spokesman for Georgia Attorney General Thurbert E. Baker said there will be no further appeals.
"I respectfully acknowledge the Court's authority to grant the relief that they have crafted in this case," Baker said.
