RIP, Mr Wizard. I watched the hell out of that show when I was a kid.

In honor of Mr Wizard, from October 3rd 1989, I present the top ten Mr Wizard experiments from Late Night with David Letterman.

          10. Let's flush a canned ham down the toilet.
          9. Will your head fit here?
          8. Taking a core sample of Tammy Faye Bakker's mascara.
          7. Getting free HBO.
          6. How many beers before you make a pass at Bea Arthur?
          5. How much Crisco can you eat?
          4. Substitution of Folgers Crystals for freshly brewed coffee.
          3. Dressing like Mrs. Wizard.
          2. A potato in your pocket: the moist, dark world of growth.
          1. Those two flight attendants in Dallas.

The guy who introduced me to science was Bill Nye. This guy, well I've never heard of him. But RIP. 89 is a great age to make it to... if only we all could be so lucky.

Wow he lived a long life. I remember watching his show every weekend on TV. His experiments seemed a little off the wall but it was quite practical in some senses. I know most here grew up on Bill Nye but Mr. Wizard will always be the guy that made science interesting to me.

wow, you have no idea how old you just made me feel...

I remember watching Mr. Wizard all the time as a kid on Nickelodeon...Great show and perfect way to get kids into science. I remember one episode where he taught about water tension and put some substance on top of water, letting you put your hand in without getting wet. I was flat out amazed.

RIP, I'm sure lots of kids learned a lot from you, Mr. Wizard

WOW! Mr. Wizard is just now dying? Man, I thought he died years ago. I used to tune in to his show on those slow Nickelodeoon weekends.

                      RIP.

My favorite little thing he showed me was standing in a doorway and pushing your arms out against the sides for a few seconds. Then you step and relax your arms and they continue to rise up. When I was a kid I thought it was magic.

                      Oh yeah, Beakman>Bill Nye.

                        Re: Television's Mr. Wizard dies

I also grew up watching Mr. Wizard. The best part of the show was the fact that he came up with experiments that you could perform on your own, or in my case, in your elementary school classroom.

I think it is safe to say that without Mr. Wizard there would have been no Bill Nye.

Interestingly enough, Mr. Wizard is something that both Baby Boomers and Gen Xers can share memories about because of the timing of both of his shows.

                        RIP
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

                          RIP Mister Wizard!

Wow some of my earliest memories are of watching this show at my Grandmother's house on Nickelodeon (we didn't have cable where I lived). It is a shame that future generations won't learn from him.
