Breach is based on Robert Hanssen, one of the FBI's most experienced Russian analysts, who sold top-secret documents for more than two decades to the former Soviet Union before finally being arrested in 2001. The film covers the two months before Hanssen's capture.

I was intrigued by the storyline but the film could have been better. There were a few tense situations between Cooper and Phillippe's characters but it never had me at the edge of my seat. This film should have been 10 minutes longer so it could dig a little deeper into the character of Robert Hanssen. The movie felt a little bland. But even with this said, Chris Cooper deserves an Oscar nomination. It's the finest performance by an actor I've seen this year. The performances by the other main actors were also good. Anybody that expects to see an intense spy thriller will be disappointed but if you like drama movies, it's a solid choice.

Really good movie.

If you like this movie, you should watch Shattered Glass. It's by the same director/writer. It's also about a recent scandal and both were enjoyable for the same reasons.

They already did a lot of "developing" of Hanssen's character in the movie. I would say Cooper's depiction is a very loose interpretation. Hanssen wasn't a very interesting person to begin with.

They took some pretty severe liberties with the story but it was entertaining nonetheless.

I enjoyed it. I like this kind of movie though, the thriller/spy type movies so I enjoyed it immensely. I wuold recommend it to anybody. Cooper/Phillipe were real good in it.

I enjoyed it but like Squint says, they take plenty of liberities with the story. Most of the cool things that happened in the movie did not actually happen.

I shut it off after 15 minutes. I couldn't keep my focus off of that huge bump on Ryan Phillippe's forehead.

Like Psyblast said Cooper was great. But the movie itself was pretty average.


Also Phillipe wife was cute as hell and Laura Linney is aging pretty well.

I didn't really like it. I thought Ryan Philippies performance was pretty bad and it wasn't believable that someone like Robert Hansen they protrayed as a super govenment agent couldn't sniff out Ryan Philippies character.

Finally saw it.

Thought it was a great movie.

Both Cooper and Phillipe provided very good performances and really kept the movie going through parts that usually would have been dull.

Saw it few weeks ago, wasn't looking forward to it because I knew it would make me think. . But what an awesome movie, especially cool for me was the extras, like interviews with the actually people the movie was based on. very cool.
