I have a 5.1 surround system that I pieced together over the years; some speakers were given to me, some I bought. I currently have a pair of really old Pioneer ST-500 speakers as my front L and R speakers. These things are beasts. They’re huge and were given to me. I have no idea how much they are worth, but I saw a listing for someone on craigslist saying they were $1500 new and he’s trying to sell them for $500. So, I’ll assume they are around $500. I have a Sony center channel and Sony 8” subwoofer. These I bought along the way. They’re both ok. My apartment has a pretty small living room (about 14’ x 12’), so I don’t need a huge sub. For surround speakers, I was given some Pioneer speakers that are not really designed for rear speakers. They’re floor speakers and are about 2-3 feet tall.
So, I was thinking of trying to sell this stuff and just getting 1 complete 5.1 set-up. Mainly, because these speakers are big and are more like giant pieces of furniture in our apartment. I don’t want to make a dumb move, though, and actually be downgrading from what I already have. The rear channel speakers I currently own are not great, but the front Pioneer’s (if they’re actually worth $500 or so) are nice.
I was looking at these Polk speakers:

and these:

I know an 8” 50-watt sub in the first set isn’t great, but is it worth the extra money for the second set with the better sub?
Am I right in thinking it would be better in having a complete system like this, instead of the mish-mash of things I have now? Any tips, suggestions, or help, would be apprectiated. I'm not an audiophile or anything, so I don't need the best speakers currently on the market or anything. Just curious if these are a good deal and good speakers.
Thanks.
