Re: Apple's Safari 3.0 Browser Beta released for Mac......and PC
Apple was right, it is fast. Fast at being uninstalled from my pc. At least FF2 lets you restore a session after a crash, a feature safari really needs. If Apple thinks it will convert many pc owners into apple buyers with a buggy prerelease beta, they are mistaken.
I don't really see the need to leave my firefox, especially since it has a great addon community.Last edited by bkfount; 06-14-2007, 07:03 PM.Comment

I read there are a few security flaws in the beta. I'd watch out before I use it for anything were you're using your credit card or ID or anything like that.
However, its still probably much safer than using IE on a PC, LOL."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

It's one thing to give Windows users iTunes because of the iPod, but Safari won't offer most Windows users a reason to switch. Heck, most people are still naive enough to use IE over Firefox.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

I have Safari on my PC. It's slow to load, a little buggy, and it doesn't close properly everytime. It does load pages faster and it doesn't crash. I think with some work, it could become a nice browser.Comment

Re: Apple's Safari 3.0 Browser Beta released for Mac......and PC
I've been using Safari for a bit now.
I personally like the RSS interface much better than FF's, which could definitely use some improvement. I like it how I can see a blurb of the article, search them, and even sort by relevance. While FF's RSS is just a subsection in the bookmarks and merely lists the article title.
But other than that, Safari is not really impressive enough to make me want to make the jump from FF. FF still trumps all the other browsers in terms of the variety of addons. Yes, I am an addons addict. And like bkfount mentioned, no session restore. And I usually open like 30-40 tabs whenever I browse, so I get very annoyed (pre FF2, but I used an addon as a session manager... see? Beauty of addons).
BTW, I posted this from FF. Bottom line, Safari needs to do more to make me impressed. If it loads significantly faster than FF or something. I don't really see a noticeable difference right now.

It's quick, I'll give it that. A couple freezes while waking the computer up from standby or leaving the browser window open for long periods of time. I'll wait until the finished product.
Don't forget it's mostly on the Windows platform to encourage web apps for the iPhone.Comment

I'm making this post from Safari on my PC.
I don't know, maybe something is wrong w. my FF or my PC, but Safari is much faster than FF for me."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier
