There is a book called "Selling the Holocaust" I read once that examined the influence of how the Holocaust has been used in different mediums and the profit from it.

Schindler's list was criticized for portraying the Holocaust in such a positive/marginalized light(all the main characters survive for the most part, all Nazi's were fairly wacko or crazy rather than "real everyday people" who took part in the systematic killings). I think some legitimate points. Interesting read if you get the chance. It was a rather controversial book if I remember right.

The last thing I watched was "Garden State" after I set up my DVD player last week and that movie gets me hard every time.

Interesting. Though I doubt many people who watched Schindler's List thought afterward, "Ya know, that whole Holocaust thing wasn't as bad as I thought."

I'll third that. There's a lot I like in that movie.

Also, for the old fogey's like me, Brian's song used to well me up all the time.

            mmm, both football movies.

Just found this thread but the Morgan Freeman funeral scene in The Bucket List because it reminded me of my grandfather's funeral.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

One of the movies that got me was Frequency. Especially the last scene when all three generations were playing softball. Just really struck me.

Stealing Home with Mark Harmon and Jodie Foster. This movie makes you think about the death of someone you never want to lose. Even though Harmon and Foster never really date, you get the impression that they are soul mates that only get it right one time in their lives. I watched this about two weeks ago and could not stop thinking about the possibility of my son growing up without me, or me living without him. I'm welling up writing this and thinking about this....

The end of Old Yeller made me cry when I was a small kid. Thats the last time I cried.
