Their supposed to be filming both at the same time next year.

          Re: Saw 4

I think I should clarify a bit more...

This was a terrible Saw movie. It's like when I went in to see Hostel, I didn't want to see a pornographic movie, but that's what I saw for the first 30 minutes. Pissed me off that I paid for the wrong movie, no matter how great the material lol.

I'll take Saw IV over Hostel, Hostel II, or even 1408 any day. Does that mean I want to buy it? No. I think it means they could have done some things much better with this movie given the same plot that they didn't, beginning with the directing. Who knows? Perhaps I would have loved this movie had it been directed differently. It can make that kind of effect on some people.

Oh and Jigsaw, thanks for some of the answers. I still sort of consider them plot holes in a way (not your questions though because they were just ignored completely, rather than being plot holes, you know?), but at least they have hypothetical answers (for the most part). I still don't accept Jigsaw testing Rigg like he tests a drug-dealer or rapist, though.

Oooh, and you have a major spoiler in your post. I suggest you put a tag or remove it.

I did find myself getting annoyed with the scene transitions you mentioned. Going from one area to another trying to be all "tricky" in blending them....sure, it's cool, the first 50 times.

I agree that there are plenty of plotholes in SAW IV, but I think they may have done this intentionally for SAW V and VI. I tried my best to make sense with the answers to your questions, but being a movie and especially a franchise that is being whored out they want to drag this out as long as they possibly can. One good thing like I stated earlier, at the most, with SAW being at installment #4............it's a way better franchise than a few others that have had more sequels that fell apart by the 2nd or 3rd movie and the rest of the sequels just became mindless.

Can you please PM me with the spoiler that I haven't marked, I must be overlooking it.

They weren't too bad, but those transitions through me off at some points. I hope that this doesn't become the norm in Hollywood for a few movies as I can see them doing this.

                * * * * SPOILER LOOK OUT * * * *

The part where you said Saw IV takes place at the same time as Saw III.

The other three big twists were:

                - Detective Hoffman was a second apprentice and behind some of the traps.

                - Rigg never truly learned how to save a life, and had he left Matthews to save himself, he would have lived.

                - There is still another Jigsaw out there. ("You thought you would go untested... you were wrong.")

                  .....................................SPOILER .................................................. .....................

Thanks dude, I went and moved it under the spoilers section.

I hope that there isn't another Jigsaw out there, John Kramer is Jigsaw to me and if there is antoher one out there than it will ruin this whole series for me.

I think that Jigsaw is testing members of the police department and S.W.A.T. for various reasons that we may find out in SAW V or VI.

With Rigg, it makes perfect sense why he is testing him even though he isn't a killer or caused any crimes.......its that the man is obsessed with trying to save others but doesn't ever think about putting his own life in jeopardy.

I can't wait to go and see this once again sometime this week or next, unless I find it by other means. There is just too much here that I feel we are probably missing in discussion due to the movie jumping around so much.

$32 million for Saw IV this weekend. Man, this series never slows up at the Boxoffice... and with only a $10 million budget, I can see why these Hollywood studios milk a franchise. With them taping SAW V and VI together next year or late this year, imagine that budget being probably under $20 million and the kind of money that will pour in, unless people are so fed up with SAW IV that they won't bother with the rest.

                              * * * * MAS SPOILERS * * * *

If you want my opinion, now that I think more about it, Jigsaw wasn't "testing" Rigg... he was training Rigg. He was teaching him how to truly save a life, only so he can perhaps take place of John when he dies.

I mean, why else would we waste a character like Eric? What do I mean by that? I mean another plot hole. Think of this:

                              - Jeff is supposed to save his daughter.
                              - Straum is going to kill an innocent man.
                              - Straum kills Jeff.

So what is the point of telling Jeff that he needs to save his daughter if he is going to be killed?

That's just one example. Now for Eric... his game is over, but it takes 6 months for him to actually die. John had plans for him to die no matter which way... whether it was to rot in the bathroom, be killed by Amanda, or be killed by Rigg at the end of Saw IV (unless of course, Rigg saved him by not saving him, which he didn't save him meaning he tried to save him). Rigg is the only reason he kept Eric alive, IMO.

In a way, Jeff's daughter was ****ed from the get go. Of course, Hoffman has plans for her (remember the stuffed animal), but Jeff had to chance if the all new psychic John Kramer knew Strahm was going to kill Jeff.

I can't wait to go and see this once again sometime this week or next, unless I find it by other means. There is just too much here that I feel we are probably missing in discussion due to the movie jumping around so much.
I'm going to blame Darren for this, yet again.

I really enjoyed this film. Heck I've enjoyed all 4 Saw films and based on the opening weekend, I'm sure there will be many more Saw's to come.

                                B+

                                SPOILERS

                                - What a terrible way for Eric Matthews to die. It was a Oh **** moment when you see his head explode.

                                - I thought the casting director could have did a better job selecting actors. Hoffman, Strahm, and Art look too similar to each other

                                - I enjoyed getting to know more of the backstory of Jigsaw. You get a better understanding of why he puts certain people in such difficult situations.

                                - I was hoping to see more of the Jeff trying to find his daughter storyline. We still don't know if she's alive or not.

                                - The twist with Hoffman being the bad guy was pretty obvious towards the end since you know every Saw film has a twist. Of course it wasn't explained why he was a bad guy in the first place. I'm guessing this will be for Saw 5.

                                - I just wonder how many more appearances can Tobin Bell make for future Saw films. He's dead so he can only appear in flashbacks. Also the only way to drag the franchise out is to have more and more Apprentices. Sooner or later it's going to become laughable.
