The story definitely veers from past episodes of this series, but that's probably because they went aliens instead of religion.

I read somewhere that the change in direction was because they were doing a nod to the '50s B-movie genre instead of the earlier Saturday serials (because of the time period).

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm planning to soon. It can't be as bad as Temple of Doom (which relatively speaking, is still a good movie)

I saw this early this morning and it was alright I suppose but it really let me down in the end....

I know some people didnt have a problem with the alien angle but I thought it was stupid, plain and simple. I didnt care for it and it just didnt belong imo. The story itself was weak, they did a terrible job of mixing scenes together that were on location with scenes that were shot in front of a green screen, and it was painfully obvious. Secondly, towards the end of the movie, they go down the well so to speak while the stones on the sides are retracting causing them to fall slightly, yet somehow the villans got down there with no stairs, amazing that they apparently jumped with no loss of life or injury. I guess I went into it thinking it was going to be an awesome movie and I left it thinking it was a 7/10, unfortunatly I figured it would be no less then a 9/10 and therefor was let down. If you can accept the alien thing, look past the mediocore story and the strange filming occasions then its not a bad movie, but those things mentioned really annoyed me.

I had a lot of problems with the movie, but the alien at the end killed it all for me. Even though he was on the screen for a second or two it still did it in. The alien also had this look like who is this woman standing on my platform. Get the hell off, bam!

I forget what animal it was but was it necessary to show them three times in the beginning of the movie. Those that lived underground.

Anyone here play "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis" many years ago on the PC? That could have been made into a good movie.

Anyhow, I saw this one and had a good time at the theater, although . . .

We learned that Dr. Jones was a colonel in the military and was at the Roswell alien dissection. Why? He's an archaeologist.

Even in "Temple of Doom" we saw more of Dr. Jones, the man, as in sides of him that made him more of a human being. In "Crystal Skull," it was almost always the "action" version of Indiana Jones - there just didn't seem to be a good balance between both sides.

I also didn't know why Dr. Jones would run off with Shia LeBouf's character to South America anyway. Karen Allen was good in "Raiders" and she had such a small part in this one. It would have made more sense to me if she had been the one to lure Indy to South America with or without her son. This would have given her more screen time anyway.

A good action flick as a whole, but to me, it didn't live up to Indiana Jones standards.

I thought it was an okay movie, I give it 7/10, I liked Iron Man a lot more...

The whole alien thing was just kinda weird to me, also the scene were Shai goes swinging with the monkeys was just kind of silly.

I liked it, I would rate it in 3rd place of all 4 movies. I wouldn't mind seeing a 5th movie made. I really don't like Shia Labeouf and there was a bit of corniness in the beginning in my opinion but over all it was a fun time at the movies.

Out of curiosity, what one would you rank 4th then? This movie wasnt terrible but, imo, there was no way it was better then any of the previous 3. Secondly, if they make another one I doubt Harrison is in it since they have already laid the ground work to have Shia Labeouf take over as the new Indy.

The car scene went on a bit long, but other than that, I don't have many complaints.

The alien angle is getting unfair treatment not unlike the new Star Wars movies. I remember a big criticism of Episode III was the Power Point screen transitions. What I found odd is that those were in A New Hope, Empire, and Return of the Jedi. Ditto on cheesy dialog.

This movie's getting the same treatment.

Are the aliens are far fetched? Hell yes.

Are the aliens any more out there than the Arc of the Covenant burning off Nazis' faces, a man ripping peoples' hearts out while they're still alive with the help of magic rocks, and pretty much every scene in Last Crusade? Not really.

It's not like any of the Indiana Jones movies were based on anything serious before. It was very, very, very loosely based off of something mentioned in the bible, but other than that, they've pretty much always been ridiculous. Granted, I happened to take a MesoAmerican and Andean culture and art class, so I noticed some things in the movie that were horribly wrong, but that's been in all of the movies.

Wow, thats a harsh statement, nothing personal, but how many movies have you seen recently then? I just watched Semi-Pro and that was far worse then the new Indy, not to mention Strange Wilderness was terrible as well. There were elements about Indy that I didnt care for, and some filming issues that annoyed me but the movie itself was good enough for me to purchase and watch again once it hits Blu-Ray someday.

As someone said earlier, it was a takeoff on the 50s B movies. I thought in that regard, it was fine. It was no more unbelievable than any of the others. I didn't like the beginning too much, but I liked it more as it went on. I think I actually liked it better than Temple of Doom actually.

Agreed 100%. Thought it was absolute trash. Almost walked out.

From everything being in front of a blue screen, the opening was painfully obvious it shot on a blue screen to the ridiculously bad storyline.

I think that they will at least have have Harrison in the 1st part as a true handing down of the role.

I really didn't like this movie at all. I'm huge Indy fan and it just didn't feel "right" to me. As Altimus mentioned I missed the big cast that Indy movies seem to have with lots of characters, it just gives the movies a "busier" feel (maybe that's why I loved Last Crusade and Raiders but didn't like this or Temple).

I also thought that the villian role was lacking something. Not a bad character, but maybe better as a second in command and not the main villian. I also thought the ending just didn't belong in an Indiana Jones movie, not because of the supernatural element, but it lacked that buildup the Grail and Ark had where you knew what they were looking for and felt the build-up to when they got it. This really is sorta a "love it or hate it" movie it seems.

Well thats the thing. I try to avoid movies like those two that I know will be ****ty. I expected more from this movie, and it was complete garbage. I really hope Shia LaBeouf doesn't continue with this series. I think he has a lot of potential and making another one of these movies as the lead role would be a big mistake. My highlight of the whole movie was seeing the preview for the new Eagle Eye movie he's starring in. Look's pretty interesting.
