    Immortalized by death

When Elvis Pressley, Marilyn Monroe, and James Dean bit the dust they all seemed to last forever as pop-culture icons and very memorable names.

John F. Kennedy despite only serving 2 years was and still is revered in this nation.

It's interesting what makes someone hit this kind of status and I'm sure there are certain factors that each of these people and more share that allow them to be pretty much "Immortalized by death"

My question is... what people today, if they were to die TODAY, would be immortalized by death?

I don't know about this very moment, but Kurt Cobain was a fairly recent one.

                Real smart answers there guys

Hmm I dunno. One reason why those people are immortalized by death (except Elvis whose death is a slightly different kettle of fish) is because they were young and they had captured the hearts and minds of the nation. I just don't see that with any celebs or politicians really.

The only person who I COULD see this happening to and it'll require things falling his way would be Barrack Obama. He would have to have served as Vice President then run in the election for president and looking like a solid bet to win only to be gunned down.

That's just my opinion tho, as for celebrities...Who the Hell knows....maybe Will Smith.

Jolie would definitely be immortalized in some places especially for her humanitarian work but as bad as it is to say her overall pop culture value isn't THAT much to make her immortalized by everyone.

Michael Jordan's a good one but I think he'd be cemented in everyone's mind if he died when he took that first retirement. There'd be tons of "what ifs" and "what coulda beens" with him.

I think Jay-Z is a strong choice because he is widely touted as the best rapper ever (who knows why?) but I can't see that with Eminem or Nas... it's the same as Biggie and Pac...

it was huge... everyone thought they would be huge icons forever... but although both are still thought about when hip-hop is brought up, it's not as big of a thing that it was a few years ago...

soon, both Biggie and Pac will be rememberd just like every rapper who deserves to be remembered in the past. Nothing ground-breaking like Marilyn Monroe or Elvis...

Madonna or Michael Jackson would have been easy choices but since they are in their late 40's, their death wouldn't be as groundbreaking either.

Depends on how they die. People who get killed are more remembered.

I know I'm going to get hammered for saying this, but I cant see any rapper being remembered 20 years from now. Dont ask me why because I dont really know, I just cant see it......Now hammer time!!!
