    WOW 66

Joey Chestnut just won the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest by eating 66 Hot Dogs in 12 minutes. Wow I don't think I have ate that many hot dogs in the past 2 years.

Breaking his own world record of 59 1/2
and the Nathan's Contest record of 53 1/2

The simple fact that Koby puked, then ate his puke, made me almost puke.

I say we're entering the roid era of food eating. Both Chestnut and Koby destroyed the world record, it's 1998 all over again, Chestnut is McGwire, Koby is Sosa.

I laughed when the announcer said this was one of the greatest moments in American sports history. No way does that ever compare to something like the Miracle on Ice.

No way does this compare to 0-10 Kansas beating 0-10 Kansas St.

Hotdog eating isn't a sport. Unless somebody's chest explodes (Aliens style), it isn't close to a great moment.

I'm pretty sure his puke was his drink because he dranked it right at the end and shoved in the food with out swallowing it causing it go every where

            The hotdogs are de-juiced.

Joey Chestnut is a better athlete then Tiger Woods I SAID IT!

You know I was looking at the Wikipedia of Nathan's Hot Dog eating Contest, and something is odd..

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nathan's_Hot_Dog_Eating_Contest

Look at the history of the contest.

Up until 2001, when Kobayashi started dominating the scene, the most hot dogs ever eaten was 25 1/2, which was set in 2000. Now fast forward to 2007, and the record jumps to 66. hmmm...

Guys, you're completely missing the point here. The announcers admit that they're tongue in cheek when they're making these comments. They're not actually thinking it's one of the greatest moments in sports history. Enjoy it for the comedy, that's why I watch every year. Not much else on anyways, and it always amazes me to watch Sonya Thomas just pack in 40 dogs at her tiny size.

It might be the training methods...nowadays they chug gallons of water to stretch stomachs. Also, back in 2000ish a lot of the guys were fat, the "sport" is coming to realize that skinny gives you more room, so I tend to think that we've hit a somewhat peak at this point. Not sure anyone will hit 70 soon.

I agree, also the guy in the "splash zone" (which btw is disgusting to even think about) said that Chestnut shakes because he is flexing his abs to get food down from the upper part of his stomach to the lower part.

Training methods like mentioned above and competition change everything.

No one had to eat 30 hot dogs because no one was eating 30 hot dogs. Kobayashi changed the sport with his training methods and willingness to shatter the record.

As a result, guys are now looking to maximize their ability to eat as many hot dogs as possible.

It's really a lot like baseball. Guys always had the ability to hit a lot of homeruns but they weren't trying for them. Babe Ruth came in with a desire to shatter the record. As a result, guys pushed to hit more homeruns and the sport was changed.

Maybe to you, but this has a strong following. I don't know why, but it has a rich history. Kob was hurt, but it is good that he broke the record, because Kob can't say anything about him being hurt. Ah right chalk one more up for America!!!

I still don't believe that Kobayashi was suffering from jaw arthritis. If a porn star has never suffered from that, then I doubt Kobayashi could.
