Does Blockbuster realize how much $$ they're losing not supporting HDDVD?

Now that I know that Netflix offers HD DVD rentals, ALONG with Blue Ray...I just cancelled my Blockbuster Online membership and signed on with Netflix. No point in me staying with Blockbuster when I can get all the same movies in glorious HD.

Seeing as how so many folks on here have 360s with HD DVD players..and with so many folks out there with HD DVD players who aren't gamers, etc...why in the world would Blockbuster support ONLY Blu Ray?

    Doesn't make much sense IMO.

This is a non-issue, Blockbuster still has them online for their online memberships and stores that already had them still have them, they just arent going to be putting them in new stores as they build and any stores that didnt already have them, or atleast thats what I was under the impression they were doing. Blockbuster may have gotten a small kickback from Sony, maybe they did actually notice more rental activity for Blu-Rays over HD-DVD's, but in the end its a small move if what I thought was happening is actually what happened.

Co-sign. I'm nowhere close to a B&M blockbuster that has hi def movies so this is a non-issue for me. I have to get them via snail mail and online blockbuster still carries HD DVDs.

You jumped the gun bro. They're still going to carry HD-DVD's in their online system, just not in their B&M stores.

          Well crap!

One note: They make it hard to see that they DO carry HD DVDs on their online store. In the main menu..they have quick buttons for DVD and Blu Ray...no HD DVD quick link.

Thanks for the tip fellas. Guess I'll cancel my Netflix after this month and go back to BB Online.

I have no idea. No one ever asks so I never bothered to find out.

yeah, to me, the blockbuster bluray deal was never a big deal. It just seemed like an effort on their part to seem relevant by acting like they can sway a format war. Kinda funny to see many stores still stocking HD-DVD too.

Not an issue for me as well. I love my Blockbuster Total Access. 3 DVDs at a time for 16 bucks a months and can exchange in store. As for HD DVD, the Xbox 360 VGA cables upconvert DVDs to near HD quality. The difference is minimal IMO.

How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.

See here's the problem with the original complaint (glad to see for those who care that auburn jumped the gun a bit) HD-DVD and Bluray are still in its infancy. You should be thankful that they even carry it online.

about 80% or more of North America don't even have HD TV so it's going to take YEARS for this to be mainstream besides, the DVD format will stay around for a very long time.
