I love Bill Simmons.

Also, I called Time Warner to ask them for the ESPN package that didn't involve "Who's more now?" and they said it doesn't exist. So I think we're stuck with it.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

I say it's a sport, and it deserves to be on ESPN just because I don't want to associate with this guy!
Judging by the way he's holding his hands, he probably isn't a very good Rock, Paper, Scissors guy...he should just stop hating.Last edited by andayaman; 07-12-2007, 01:27 PM.Comment

Re: First ESPN had cup stacking...
Not only is Rock, Paper, Scissors not a sport, but it's also not a game.
Rock, Paper, Scissors is merely a way to determine a winner. I don't play Rock, Paper, Scissors when I am bored and want to do something fun with some friends. I play Rock, Paper, Scissors when I need to decide who is paying for the next round of beer.Comment

Re: First ESPN had cup stacking...
Im pretty sure there are strategies and plays people "run" while playing RPS. Im not saying its a sport by ANY means but there is some strategy to it and people dont rely on just luck. Even though im pretty sure anyone has a chance at winning any given RPS game these "pros" know how to bait people into throwing certain things and whatnot.Comment

Re: First ESPN had cup stacking...
Dominoes isn't only based on luck. There is actually some skill and strategy involved in knowing what domino to drop at a certain point during the game.
RPS is luck.
I know someone above mentioned how the pros probably can get guys to throw a certain hand. That's intimidation and cheesy. That's not skill. That's like asking a big kid to look a small 1st grader in the eye and force his hand to throw down rock while big kid throws down paper."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
