Sounds great, and I would LOVE to have it...except they don't offer HD locals here in Springfield and that's a deal killer. The reason I switched from Dish and pressured the local Insight/Comcast was solely for that reason. I'll deal with fewer HD channels if I can watch my network TV (LOST, Heroes, Grey's, How I Met Your Mother, etc.) in HD.

      Sorry!

Cool then I am cover, I have all that. I had the HD DVR, but it made a loud rattle noise, so I got a regular HD H20.

Giada was on periodically, and her rack is fine as ever. However, the main show you get with Food Network HD is some Katie Couric look-alike with bug eyes and the old 'Double Dare' host Marc Summers' show...over, and over, and OVER again (about five to eight shows per day, repeated ad nauseum).

I wonder if all these channels will be included in the current HD package. If so, I expect a price increase. Can't imagine DTV giving us all that for what we pay now.

Johnny, have you considered getting a regular Antenna and getting your locals that way ?? The Direct TV receivers integrate a OTA antenna into your program guide so you don't have to switch inputs on your tv when watching the locals on a regular antenna.

Yeah that is what I am thinking too. I hope it will be, but I doubt it.

I don't think it can record the OTA locals...or can it?

Anyway that is another thing the new satellites are supposed to take care of, more locals.

It can record it, but you need a line run from the antenna to the receiver.

For a price increase? We are already paying for the SD channel, so if they offer the HD version, I would expect not to have to pay for the SD channel if they raise the price for the HD access.

DTV is still way expensive for me. Hopefully the cable companies move on as well with more HD.

I think you can, but only with this receiver: http://www.weaknees.com/directv-hd-dvr.php

I agree, I have (cheap) cable and it's allright... I also have an antenna for locals and HD signals (I get CBS and FOX - great for football on Sundays). If they up the HD offerings I'll jump on it.

quick question about direcTV- do you always have to sign a multi-year contract or can you do month-to-month? I ask this because I know I'm going to be moving next May and really wanted to get DirecTV for the Sunday ticket this year.
