Wow, in a way the dog looks cool; but if its hurting the dog then it should of been put to sleep when it was born as you suggested. Its horrible cause if its suffering it should of been put to sleep.

I agree, it with trob, does look pretty awesome, at least the first one...........

It would be even more awesome it they were as tenacious as they look. But the fact that it won't be able to live a normal life is pretty sad ........ it is what it is, unfortunately......

Where does it say that the dogs are hurting? I'm sure they are going through some stuff but I haven't seen anything in what I've read about them being put to sleep for health reasons, they are usually put to sleep because they don't "look right".

You know what jmood, you are right. Remember, I was just bringing this story along from another forum I read it on. Apparently this "putting down Bully Whippets" is a myth.

I guess I should have looked around more on the subject like you did.

Fox and Wendy are two whippets who are normal in almost every way. While Fox (the lighter-colored one) has an light, agile build, Wendy is probably three times bulkier than Fox - and it's all muscle.

According to the New York Times, Wendy is a "bully whippet"- a musclebound, heavyset version of her more-spindly siblings. Bully whippets are usually put to sleep (even though they have a normal whippet temperament in every way) simply because they don’t live up to the American Kennel Club whippet standard.

I've owned and been active in the whippet community for over ten years and know many breeders, particularly of race whippets, that have been active in this for decades and NO ONE puts down their bully whippets. I don't know where this myth arose, but no one euthanises double-muscled whippets. What they actually do--they adopt the dog out as a pet-quality whippet (rather than for showing) and require it to be spayed or neutered. I repeat, no one is killing these puppies. If you feel the need to verify this, contact anyone in WRAP (Whippet Rescue and Placement) of the US. Or LOTRA. Or local breed, racing, or lure coursing clubs.

If you want to report a story on sighthounds culled and euthanised as puppies, do a story on greyhound racing. But try to get the facts right next time.

Liam is 19 months old. Liam has a rare genetic condition called myostatin-related muscle hypertrophy, or muscle enlargement. The condition promotes above-normal growth of the skeletal muscles; it doesn't affect the heart and has no known negative side effects, according to experts.

Liam has the kind of physical attributes that bodybuilders and other athletes dream about: 40 percent more muscle mass than normal, jaw-dropping strength, breathtaking quickness, a speedy metabolism and almost no body fat.

In fitness buffs' terms, the kid is ripped.

"We call him The Hulk, Hercules, the Terminator," his mother said.

Liam has given his mother a black eye and once punched a hole in the plaster wall during a tantrum. "That's called attitude," his mother said.

I was hoping someone was going to say that humans can get it, there was also another case in Germany not too long ago about a child that already had developing calfs at like 9 months.

That cow looks amazing. It's crazy how much bulk they put on. I think I remember seeing something about that little boy, or a little boy at least that was really musclebound. I think observers thought they were giving the boy supplements or making him work out when he really just had some kind of disorder. Can't really remember though.

Forget the pooches. No negative side affects for those kids? Thats hard to believe, but if that is the case then they are going to be quasi-superheros. Benching 7 bills, 50 inch verts, running legit 3.9's. I just wonder if their tendon's, ligaments and bones, are going to be able to handle the forces that their muscles will be able to produce.
