I got the VX8600, and I love it. Battery life kicks the crap out of my old RAZR (I can sit at work for 8-12 hours, sending over 500-1000 texts in that time, and playing a few games... Goes down to half if a 12 hour shift, full or 3 bars in 8 hours depending.)

I've had the same experience with it, I just don't send THAT many texts. I live in Charlotte, which is a pretty large metro, and have not a single problem with reception. I HIGHLY recommend the phone.

"I" don't need a cell phone, since I'm home and anyone needing to reach me can get a hold of me. That's all! I still think the idiots getting calls in the check-out lines at stores and restaurants are losers....100%!

EDIT: Oh, and EG, it's a THX Certified Home Theater Audio set-up! Not just "any old" surround system!

unless those guys at the check out counters and stores are making money when they get those calls.

when i am working at home i am plugged in, and i get calls when i decide to hit the gym or go buy groceries during the day;

dont get me wrong. i used to hate the idea of always being reachable, but these days, especially in my field and what i do, its a necessity.

If you're out at the store and there's a family emergency....you don't care that someone can't contact you?

Exactly. I have a cell on me at all times, but it's part of my job. Gotta make sure all servers and network infrastructure are up and running at all times.

People can complain about me getting calls at the grocery store or in-line at Target, but that's not my problem. It's a necessity for my job.

What family emergency? My wife and I just passed both our life insurance physicals with flying colors...we are now insured for well over a million (at only $20 a month!

).

My son had all his surgery and crap done when he was six months old...no worries (long story, will gladly tell in a PM).

We'll pick up a phone soon, likely a "pay as you go" plan for said emergencies...I just prefer to think of simpler times!

I'm just saying...

Say your son breaks a bone, your wife has to take him to the hospital. You'd have to go home and find a note.

Just something I personally worry about, even as a teenager, because if something happened to my family (say my dad had another heart attack) I'd want to find out from one of them, not a note.

Just me, though.

I just got the Moto Q through Sprint's SERO plan. My experience has been too good to be true. I tried the Upstage 1st but really didn't like the interface.

The Q does so much (It's my first smartphone). I can watch my TiVO through a Slingbox, I can stream Sirius satellite radio, surf the actual web (OS included), Play MP3's, QWERTY keyboard, NES emulator with all the games, blah, blah, blah. And it fits in my pocket. Caveat: it is a battery hog, but there are extendeds available.

Anyway, the Moto Q is basically free. $99 up front, minus $100 mail in rebate. Sprint's SERO plan is incredible. All that unlimited data, plus unlimited texting for $30/mo. If your not in contract, sign up. The only downside is I had to get a new Phone # (You may be able to transfer). I ended up getting one for my G/F also. She loves it because it is easier to use than the Upsatge and does sooooo much more.

An AWESOME deal.

LOL, I've done business calls on the can before. Clients just think I'm on speaker phone...and yes, I sanitize my phone as I'm a germ freak.
