Re: Get Smart...the Movie
Saw it over the weekend, and I (to my surprise) really liked it. I thought it was close enough to the show, but not a complete rip off. Thankfully Steve Carrell didn't just do a Don Adams impersonation, which really wouldn't have played well. I grew up watching the TV show, so I probably had an idiot fanboy grin on my face during the references to the show:- The whole re-do of the show's credits
- "Shtarker, this is KAOS. We don't X here...."
- Max's handwritten notes about "The Claw (Craw)" during the opening scene
- Bill Murray's cameo
- Puddy showing up as Hymie (perfect casting, IMO)

Re: Get Smart...the Movie
I noticed the first season of Get Smart is only 20 bucks on Amazon. Is it worth checking out if I enjoyed the movie?

Re: Get Smart...the Movie
Saw it tonight cause my friend wanted to see it and it was her birthday. I was a little skeptical going in, but I really enjoyed it quite a bit. I liked the chemistry between Carrell & Hathaway, and I just love Arkin as a grumpy old man, haha. It was one of the more pleasant surprises movie-wise for me in the past couple yearsComment

This clip will give you an idea of how the show was...it's not the best by far, but there isn't much on YouTube:

Re: Get Smart...the Movie
I saw it this weekend and loved it. I grew up watching the old tv shows on Nick at Nite and loved it as well. I thought it did an excellent job of being true to the original form of the show, but "modernized".
SpoilerDid anyone catch the original cars from the '65, '68 and '69 intros? That was awesome.Sports are good.

Re: Get Smart...the Movie
Didn't see this in the theatre, but DVD'd it this weekend finally. Excellent rendition. Agree with all of the above comments. Clearly they did the right thing by having Mel Brooks consult them on this. Lot's of well thought out stuff.
SpoilerDon't know why but it finally hit me after the movie.... why are you shooting the plastic handcuffs off with a mini bow, when it's already connected to a Swiss army knife? And, yes, Alan Arkin delivers the line of the movie with the Swordfish......lolComment
