I have a Dell XPS 410 (or 400, whatever) that I purchased in Dec '05. I'm very strict about spyware/virus protection, run scans every Sunday evening, careful about the programs I put on the machine, etc.
My PC has absolutely no problems besides Firefox. For some reason it runs extremely slow and often gets hung up (page stops loading halfway, pictures often do not load although the thinker is still spinning in the top right of the screen) and it's driving me insane. If I click the stop and then the refresh button the page usually loads correctly at a decent speed, however a page rarely loads correctly on the first attempt. This started probably four to six months ago.
I despise IE but it runs at least twice as fast as FF on my machine and Safari runs about 4-5 times faster.
I have tried a complete un/reinstall of FF and it solved nothing. I made sure I changed back to the default skin and limited my extensions but nothing helped.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? I really can't go back to any other browser after using FF for the past two years or whatever it's been.
