    Memory Question

Recently, I've noticed some slowdown in my laptop's's performance. I've thought about upgrading my RAM from two 256mb slots to one 256mb slot and one 512mb slot.

My question is, do you think that'll make much of a difference? I'm trying to save some money, as a new PC will be coming soon. So, if I can get some decnt performance without spening $100, I'd be happy.

    Thanks

I'd go with a couple a 512mb, or even 1GB. You can get them on the cheap now anyways. That would probably help out noticeably. Check these out. There are some nice deals on 512 ones, too.

It'll help. It won't be an incredible increase, but it should help.

        Re: Memory Question

How long til your new PC comes? If I was going to upgrade, I'd go with 2 512MB sticks atleast.

To answer your question, the more ram the better. Going from 512 to 768 will help, but don't expect too much of a performance increase.

If you could go with two 512 or keep one 256 and get a 1 gig one.

www.tigerdirect.com usually has great deals on ram!

Thanks for the responses. The laptop is only supposed to have no more than 1GB. Those links will help because I was going to crucial.com and they had 512 for $53.00.

I just don't want to put 106.00 down on two 512MBs.

You can find cheaper ram at NewEgg.com/TigerDirect.com for sure. Just make sure to get the right type of ram, and you'll be set.
