Unbreakable
So, I watched this for the first time tonight and I thought it was a pretty good flick. I thought the ending was kind of cliche, even for M. Night, but overall a very good film.

I saw it for the first time earlier this year as well. I swear, some of M. Night's movies would be just fine if he didn't direct them. He can write them, I really don't care about the storylines (I mean, I care... but I think that they are fine the way that they are). The Sixth Sense and Signs worked with his direction. But to me, Unbreakable and The Village did not (I never saw Lady in the Water).
I thought that it was a pretty good movie, though. Of course, Bruce Willis always helps. The ending was rather unexpected on my part, but you're right that it was rather cliché. Not a bad movie, though. I disagree. M. Night's best directing was in Unbreakable, IMHO. It also happens to be one of my favorite movies, and easily his best movie, as far as I'm concerned. Sixth Sense was great too, but IMHO, Unbreakable was the superior movie.
I didn't like the Village, and Lady In the Water was just OK, though.
I don't understand how the ending was cliche however. It came to a logical conclusion, and fit neatly within the narrative structure. It wasn't really innovative, but that doesn't make the ending a cliche.
Unbreakable's one of the few movies I watch just about every year, and I still never get tired of watching it. I just saw it a few days ago after downloading the HD version off Xbox Live Marketplace.Comment

Ugh, I thought this one and The Village are both up there in the "worst movies I've ever seen" list. Found them both terrible, and waiting for the "twist" the entire movie. Figured out The Village in the first 10-15 minutes.Comment

Back in the day when everyone was freaking out over "sixth sense", I finally watched it, and was a little dissapointed...probably because it was so hyped up.
Watched this one a few years ago, new nothing about it, and loved it! Kinda a cool concept, Willis was great, the ending was really good to see. 2 thumbs up!Comment

What might make Unbreakable unbearable to watch for some is expecting a "Sixth Sense" type of twist.
That's unfortunate.

Unbreakable was the one with Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson right? Honestly, I thought it was a great movie. Would have loved them to try and make a sequel out of it that was off the wall kind of. Very entertaining. I'd recommend it for those who have an open mind in viewing movies.Comment

I liked Unbreakable quite a bit, the Sixth Sense is still my favorite of his though. I can tolerate Signs, but the The Village was so bad and I didn't even consider seeing Lady in the Water.

Shyamalan's reputation as a great story teller/director has taken a hit after releasing 3 straight duds (The Village, Signs, Lady In The Water).
I do look forward to The Happening though. Unlike his last film, this storyline appeals to me.Comment

Are you serious or pulling my leg here, cause i thought the twist was pretty unpreditcible in The Village.
As for as Unbreakable, i loved it. I think its definitly one of his better movies. They story was well paced and the ending was rather enjoyable.
However i also liked Lady in The Water, not too much of a twist in the movie, but it was rather enjoyable. I found it probably better than The Village and Sixth Sense.
On a whole M. Night's movies aren't that bad. I hear hes directoring and writing the Nickeloden Avatar movie. That show is greatComment

Signs is still my favorite. I didn't like the ending, but I still enjoyed it the most. Science fiction appeals to meeee... berry-berry-much.
As for The Village... I believe I even started a thread on this, but I absolutely dreaded it the first time I saw it. However, I saw it on Encore about a year later, and I think that the main point about my thread was that it was a much better movie the second time that I saw it. Granted, it still is on the bottom of the four that I've seen, but I appreciated it a lot more. I think one thing that could have helped it, like I said, was a different director.
When I spoke of "cliché" endings, Unbreakable was the last of the M. Night Shyamalan movies that I have seen. That said, while the ending was not what I expected, I was not surprised when I saw the ending. The ending to The Sixth Sense was amazing, and I think it still would have been just as amazing if that was the last Shyamalan movie that I saw. Who said "Signs" was a dud? I thought it was his best message movie of the lot. Overall, I just wish he would find someone else to do his acting parts. He doesn't need to be in his own movies and I would actually say his role in "Signs" was not believeable. He might think just a little too much of himself or he's got that artistic flair to him or whatever it is. But I think someone needs to step him back and suggest to him to stay out of the acting roles. As far as Unbreakable, I loved Willis in the role, but I can do without Samuel L. in most any role. Good adaptation of the fantasy superhero world merging into the real world.Comment
