Opie and Anthony? Question about Opie

So I just started to listen to O&A on my XM radio the past month or so.
I'm new to the show so I'm not sure if this is a valid question. But, is Opie basically useless on this show? It seems to me that Anthony and Jim Norton are the real comedic presences on the program and Opie is basically some dude that chimes in every now and then with something that's not even remotely entertaining or funny.
Am I wrong? This is just the impression I've gotten over the past 4-5 weeks.

P.S. Opie's impersonation of Andrew Dice Clay is freakin' hilarious! When he sings to "M-Bop" in Dice's voice, I'm on the floor laughing.

    Anthony does dice's impression

you should here his richard nixon and reagan ones.

and yeah, you get the feeling the opie does indeed play as third fiddle against the talents of anthony and little jimmy. however, i think he is the one that keeps the radio side of things moving along. i beleive that hes the one that steers the topics, keeps the show going, and basically acts like a radio jockey. Opie does have his moments, but they are few and far between.

Still, the chemistry the three have is pretty damn good, and without opie on the show it just wouldnt be the same ( my thoughts on it anyways).

i highly, HIGHLY , recommend checking out the ron and fez show. Absolute comedy gold. Ron Bennington is a radio god among mortals.

Thanks. My bad for ripping on Opie then. His Dice impersonation is awesome. He should do the whole show as Da Dice man.

Jim Norton is awesome. I started listening to some of his stand-up after tuning into O&A and I think I'm going to be buying some of his albums.

        opie doesnt do any impersonations

its anthony that does it. Actually Opie might have a few impersonations, i think he does vinny mac, but anthony is the one that does excellent impersonations.

i saw jim at the improv here in miami a few months back and he killed. Most of the comedian friends that are friends of the show are absolutely hysterical. Patrice o'neil and louis c.k are two of my favorites.

This morning was hilarious and I expected it after watching Dateline last night. One of the guy's busted with Chris Hanson goes "I know you, you're Chris Hanson, you were funny on Opie and Anthony".. Hanson goes "Oh, you heard me on Opie and Anthony?" LMAO

So of course, they are blowing up this morning.

Hahaha. I heard that this morning too.

And then they started playing that horrible "Chocolate Reign" song. It's stuck in my head still.
But when that one guy called in with his own 'verse' of the tune (which was horrible!), Jimmy says "Why are you alive?". I lost it.

Anthony does the sly impression. My favorites are(just off the top of my head):

                sly
                buffalo bill
                dice
                ronald reagan
                richard nixon
                chris hanson
40's era voices ( light up a lucky strike)

Yeah, his Chris Hanson impersonation is spot-on.

Yeah Ive been listening to that show forever, I remember when they added Jimmy Norton to the show and he definitely brought alot to the show. Ive always been a big fan of Ron and Fez too even though they've have always been back seat to O&A even when they were all back on WNEW. There are sometimes when I like to listen to them better.

I'm a big fan of both O&A and R&F. Anthony is great with his impressions the Dice bit is my favorite.
I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

They helped promote a show Dice did at madison square garden back when they were friends. after that dice turned on them, bad mouthed them on another show ( which will remain nameless for the sake of this thread and the fans of both shows), and there you have it.

They have said dice turns on people pretty quickly. Dice had introduced little jimmy and club soda kenny to the boys.

I enjoy Anthony much more than Opie. I feel that Anthony's takes are much more interesting than Ope's. I listen to the show for Jim Norton however. Hands down one of my favorite comics.
