Re: One brother kills another over a sports video game
Sick world getting sicker. I couldn't even fathom having someone around me like that. It's beyond me how people can't control themselves in situations like that. Kind of disheartening that video games played any type of role in a situation like this. Even more discouraging that more households are like this due to lack of control by the youth. Sad Sad Little World.......Comment

Re: One brother kills another over a sports video game
I've seen friends get into fights over games when we were younger but this is just shocking.
One of my first thoughts was what game they were playing, I think it must have been a game that was 1player.Comment

Re: One brother kills another over a sports video game
back in 89 or 90, two of my friends got into a fistfight over SNK baseball. O'steens best hitter was up, and Chad beaned him for the walk. The next time he came up in the order O'steen told him be better not hit him again! well, Morris beaned him. O'steen threw down the controller and it was on!Comment

Re: One brother kills another over a sports video game
It's a problem in today's society where young kids (males especially) often resort to violence as the first means of solving a problem, and many do so with a weapon. Maybe its the negative media, but everyday I open the paper while riding the subway to work and read about some kid shooting another kid over a disagreement. It's just senseless and unfortunate. And now this kid has to live with the fact that he killed his brother over a videogame. Good luck on that one.Comment

Re: One brother kills another over a sports video game
Not only was it unintended, I don't even see my pun. If by the first line, too many times I've seen people blame that video game for their violent actions. If by the second line, it's sad (as in depressing) that there was a murder, and it's sad in the sense that somebody would ever stoop to that kind of level to stab someone over... well... over anything, really.
Video game, levels, get it now. Yeah this is sad, I feel for the mother, she lost both sons. I know older brothers can piss you off, but stabbing one is crazy.Comment

Re: One brother kills another over a sports video game
This sucks, this is the second time there was a death over a videogame. About 1 year ago someone was killed over a playing music on the ps2.
oops sorry found a third one a guy killed 2 friends over madden
gamepolitics.livejournal.com/129308.html
Heres a fourth a father killed his child because she knocked the ps2 over
Is Madden teaching kids to kill? ...or are some people just troubled, crazy, violent, and happen to have a gun handy? The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports today that an 18-year-old in North Braddock, PA killed two longtime friends in an argument over a game of Madden 2006. Erskine Smith was arrested…Last edited by rockchisler; 07-21-2007, 12:21 AM.chuckcross.bandcamp.com

Re: One brother kills another over a sports video game
I'm sure this wasn't the only reason.
And don't blame this on society or video games or anything else. The stabber was a freakin' nutcase, and the blame lies squarely on him.Comment

Re: One brother kills another over a sports video game
I used to work as a teacher at a placement facility/school for court-adjudicated youth. We had kids from all over PA, including inner-city Philly (about 50%and Pittsburgh, as well as smaller groups from Harrisburg, DC/Maryland, WV and small towns in the middle of nowhere. It was all too common to see/hear unfortunate stories where something as unimportant as a pencil, notebook, next game on the b-ball court would lead to violence. Coming from the background I did (small town middle-class two parent family), it was difficult to relate to all of the negative influences and pressures some of these kids faced at such young ages.
However, all of that aside, there comes a time when it comes down to nothing more than right or wrong. For someone to do what this kid did is unfathomable. There is no explanation for that type of tragedy. As someone already said, two children basically lost their lives (one did) in one moment over 'next game'. Just rips me up inside and reminds me of all the kids that I had in school who I've seen on the news or heard or read about being charged with crimes, even a few with rape and murder. Makes you wonder about things and where this world is going...Comment
