XM And Sirius going a la carte?

Basically you can get 50 nonpremium channels for $6.99 per month. I wouldn't be taking advantage because the only channels XM has that I'd want are the sports channels. And apparently those are premium channels.

this is a load of crap. just months ago they said that you didnt need a new radio to get the other company's content, and not this a la carte bs has you purchasing a new radio?

i hope the merger fails. i am happy with xm and would rather not start having the things they said that wouldnt happen begin to take shape. next thing is having to pay extra for those premium channels, aka howie and the boys, or the sports packages.

i might be overreacting, but i dont like it one bit

They better have some mass exchange program if you are required to have a new radio...

Well, it does say if you want to keep all the same current XM or Sirius programming you can at 12.95 a month, which is what we pay now. With that, no new radio required.

I don't like the sounds of a new radio, that annoys me as they said "no new radio required for the merger". But I guess they aren't lying as it's not required, just annoying. I was looking forward to having football and Stern too.

If they start charging extra for the sports channels, I'll cancel my subscription to Sirius. I don't listen to the Nascar or NBA anyway. I only listen to Rivals Radio and college sports.

Re: XM And Sirius going a la carte?

As an XM subscriber, I hate the fact that you need a new radio for ala carte. Honestly, I'd like to order The Virus, Stern's channel, the NFL, the NHL, MLB, the ACC channels, Rivals, College Sports, and a selection of reggae / hip-hop channels, with maybe 3 or 4 channels that are friendly to my wife's tastes, as well. All in all, that's probably no more than 40 or 50 channels, if you slot all of the NHL, MLB, NFL, and ACC channels as seperate.

But I guess I'll stick with my regular XM plan, provided that O&A aren't censored or canned.
