If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :) -
Re: Cable internet connection dropping?
You need a new modem. I have similar issues with my Linksys router and some crappy webstar modem that Charter gave me when I started my service. I ditched the webstar modem and got a brand new motorola surfboard and haven't had any problems since. My cable line isn't split though. It's only going straight to the modem from outside. The signal just drops and come back on a couple minutes later -- just like JohnnytheSkin says what happens to his connection. I have a Linksys router hooked up, but I know that's running good.
The funny thing is I have the black Motorola SB5100 model that was originally hooked up years ago to my regular Xbox, and never ever had any problems with that one. But Comcast later replaces it with this crusty-looking beige piece of s--- SB3100 one, and lo and behold I have chronic signal issues. Damn crooks.

As has been said, it's probably your modem, but you can always call Comcast and ask them to come out and check everything, it's doubtful it will fix it but maybe. Then if it doesn't, just go buy a new modem.I would have them come out and check the connectors for water corrossion. That happened recently with me and my net was dropping like crazy. If they don't torque down the connectors at the pole, water can get in rather easily and eat at the copper core of the cable.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Cable internet connection dropping?
I have comcast in the chicagoland area and I would get 3-4 day periods where the modem would disconnect and recycle all the time. It turns out after comcast sent 3 different people to my house they where doing work in the area.
Comcast hires private contractors, and there tech support is not localized. So the communication levels are all screwed up, which makes it hard to solve any problems."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Co-Sign. I was having the same problem as Johnny, and had tech support come out numerous times only to find everything "normal". Finally made the switch the AT&T DSL, and haven't had a problem since.Comment
