    Yeah that was annoying. It just started happening a few months ago out of nowhere, I couldn't play any games on xbox live cause it would just randomly disconnect.

      You need a new modem. I have similar issues with my Linksys router and some crappy webstar modem that Charter gave me when I started my service. I ditched the webstar modem and got a brand new motorola surfboard and haven't had any problems since.

        As has been said, it's probably your modem, but you can always call Comcast and ask them to come out and check everything, it's doubtful it will fix it but maybe. Then if it doesn't, just go buy a new modem.

          I have comcast in the chicagoland area and I would get 3-4 day periods where the modem would disconnect and recycle all the time. It turns out after comcast sent 3 different people to my house they where doing work in the area.

          Comcast hires private contractors, and there tech support is not localized. So the communication levels are all screwed up, which makes it hard to solve any problems.

            Co-Sign. I was having the same problem as Johnny, and had tech support come out numerous times only to find everything "normal". Finally made the switch the AT&T DSL, and haven't had a problem since.

              Yes, that is the best piece of advice of anything, switch to someone else, LOL!! I switched to Verizon FIOS and my internet is so much faster and stable.

                Well last night I got the SB 5101, hooked it up, called Comcast to get it configured with their internet service, then happily threw the SB3100 in the trash. Problem solved.
