I'll start this off with a trilogy in the Divine Trilogy of Dante, starting with Inferno. You would need to update some of the characters to make it accessible to movie goers (I don't think they're too schooled in the corrupt Popes and religious officials of Dante's time), then move on to Purgatory, and from there to Paradise. If done right this trilogy could be huge. I believe someone tried making Inferno in the 70's, but I think production costs were too much. Take the technology we have today and that isn't an issue.

Books that would make epic movies
The Beowulf movie thread got me thinking about this, what classic novels would translate into epic movies?

I would love to see Dante's works made into movies, but, like always with me, I don't think modern Hollywood can get it right. They rarely do. The Lord of the Rings movies are about the only time a classic book/series of books have been done justice on the big screen.
Seeing someone try Paradise Lost would be cool, though. I heard somewhere that it was in pre-production a couple of months ago, and IMDB lists it as 2009, but no other info. -

Not sure how epic it would be but would love to see "Angels and Demons" made into a movie. I heard at one point it might but havent heard anything since then.
