    Best Router

Is there anything better than Netgear out there?

Depends on what you want from your router. I think Linksys, Netgear and D-Link are all on the same level. I've always preferred Linksys though.

I'm the same way...I have friends who swear by Netgear, but others (like me) who have gone with Linksys and have had no problems.

Linksys. Just recently had to re-do my wireless and used their on-line (web) help after giving up on the telephone CSC. Worked like a charm.

BTW, if you use Linksys wireless, on the cpu(s) that have the adapter, keep the Linksys connections center active (i.e., don't use the Windows "active connections" window option). It makes re-connecting a lot easier if need be.

I've a D-Link wireless router. The only problem I get is that sometimes the connection dies and I have to reset the connections.

Other then that, it works like a charm.

How much of a hassle to reset the connections?

I used to have Netgear. Which I loved! I had it for about 2 years and NEVER EVER had one problem with it. Unfortunately, Chicago had a really bad thunderstorm a few weeks ago and the router was fried. I recently switched up to a Linksys router, and am not as impressed as I was with Netgear.

Whenever I play an online game (normally warcraft) using my new linksys router, Ive had many drops as well as lag time throughout a game. Its almost automatic now that I kinda expect it to happen. Recently it has just given me lag and hasn't dropped.. yet.

My Dad has the same problem with his D-Link router. He has to unplug and plug it back in every time it happens.

Check some of the settings and optimize the port you are using when gaming online.

More than likely the modem he has doesn't play nice with the router. I had the same problem about everyday I had to reset my router to get my internet connection again. I ended up buying a new modem and never had a problem since.

Not much problems really. Just disconnect the Modem and router for about a minute or two then plug it back in.
