It's only happened 3 times in the 6 or so months i've had this router. It's not a long term problem i've had.

That's the same firmware I use. It works great.

I wanted to load that onto my Linksys, but my router wasn't compatible.

That's what I think as well. He's gone back and forth with Comcast over this issue and they haven't been much help. I've offered to let him use one of my older Linksys routers as I suspected that was the problem, but he said no, Comcast should fix it. Oh well...

There is no best router. I personally just use a D-Link wireless router, works like a charm for me.

Had this Netgear that I had in college. I think it was wireless. It worked pretty sloppy where it would slow down the connection constantly and cause problems online. I split the connection with my roommate. Hated it. Then I brought it home only to constantly have problems with that piece of dung. Never worked right and the update never helped. Tossed the stupid thing since it was out of warranty and worth nothing. On the real though, I had this older Linksys that I used. Pulled that sucker out of retirement to find it fast as ever. Swear by Linksys now and forever. So simple and so convenient.

What is so good about this firmware....... and for the novice users, how do you "open a port" for a particular game so that you don't have to switch cables around?
