    Bell Witch: The Movie 2007

I guess this movie was filmed in HD around 2002, but the director wanted to wait till HD-DVD and BluRay were out in the market to release it on the HD formats. I guess this is a direct to video release, but from a few things that I have read this is an interesting take on the whole Bell Witch mythos.

Anyone else hear anything on this movie?

Everything I've heard on this movie is that it's awful. It had a 1.2 on IMDB before it was re-edited and scenes were added in. People have seen it at festivals dating back to as far as 2004. And it's laughable to say he sat on the movie for 5 years to make sure it was seen in HD. It means no one would publish the POS.

Here's an old Press Release for the movie, doesn't sound like waiting for HD to me

BETSY PALMER TO STAR AS THE BELL WITCH
    Big River Pictures Announces Today

Hollywood (CA)--Big River Pictures announced today that Betsy Palmer will play the lead voice-over title role ("Kate" the Bell Witch) in the upcoming "BELL WITCH: The Movie." Palmer will fly in from New York this week to record the voice-over role at a Burbank Sound Stage Studio.

Palmer, one of the most famous scream queens, is best known in the horror genre for her role as Jason's mother (Mrs. Voorhees) in the original "Friday The 13th." But she is also famous for her numerous television appearances and series such as "I've Got A Secret" in the '50s.

After searching for "the right voice," director S. Shane Marr heard Palmer’s voice on a Halloween television show and said, "she’s the witch!" Now he comments that they are thrilled to "have such an incredible legend of 'screen scream' bringing to life the Bell Witch."

"BELL WITCH: The Movie," a film detailing the legendary 1800s haunting in Adams, Tennessee, is scheduled to premiere in early 2005. www.bellwitchthemovie.com

Thanks EG on the heads up. I might just rent this one.

BTW, a friend of mine saw Pathfinder last night and he said it was Netflix rental material.

I could have told you that, as I said before, my buddy walked out on it. Said it was "wretched".

To me, the Bell Witch legend was covered in American Hautning, the story isn't good enough to warrant a 2nd movie (even though this one was filmed first, like I said, no studio would publish it, leading to American Haunting to be filmed).
