1. A History of Violence (no one I know has seen this movie...but they would most likely love it. No bad scenes, great screenplay, and it makes you think.)

2. To Live and Die in L.A (kinda similar to Lethal Weapon but IMO it's better...if anything see it for the amazing car chase)

3. Mystic River (amazing acting, gripping, and very entertaining)

4. City Of God (amazing movie....a must see but sadly there are alot of people who don't want to see it because it's foreign.)

5. The Big Lewboski (funniest movie ever...but it definatly needs to be seen more then once)

I just watched this about a week ago, and I must say that I loved it. Christian Bale can flat out act. If he doesn't manage to snag at least one Academy Award in his lifetime it will be a travesty. I don't place a lot of value on awards, but he may be the best actor in his age group.

This is so true. That said my 5 are:

1. American Psycho - See the Bale reference above, this movie is freaking classic.

2. Office Space - Duh.

3. Fresh - It's about this kid who sells drugs for two rival dealers, and gets them to end up taking each other out. Very interesting movie, and it has Sam Jackson before he got all weird and started making lame movies (Snakes, The Man, etc...)

4. Kids - Seriously, watching this movie is like an experience. I really cannot think of a movie that has made me feel the way this movie does.

5. A Clockwork Orange - Okay, I lied, there is another movie that made me feel like Kids. This is just a very interestingly-crazy movie and if you haven't seen it, you most certainly should.

Picking a list of 5 movies is practically impossible, there are so many other great ones that have been mentioned on this list. Namely Clerks. I was so dissapointed with Clerks 2. Kevin Smith really let us down IMHO. Clerks 2 had a bunch of cheeky currenty event jokes, and wasn't nearly as classic as the first. The first was actually hilarious, Clerks 2 seemed like KS was trying too hard.

Rushmore is another quality film. I remember seeing it in the theatre the weekend it came out, the girl I was with at the time and I went all super early thinking it would be packed, there were like 8 people in the theatre. I laughed so hard, it was such a great, undervalued movie.

The People Under The Stairs is a great horror movie, and who doesn't like a movie with a character named Roach who'se had his tongue cut out?

I could go on forever, and ever with great movies that people should watch but I'll stop know, since I guess I went to 8. LoL. Oh well, sue me.

Great choice. One of the featurettes on the DVD about the situation down there (interviewing cops, rebels, etc.) is pretty interesting, too.

As a bonus: 300, yes...while it was mainly a special effect (read: slow motion) festival, if you were able to watch it on an IMAX as I was, it's quite the incredable thing to see.
