Satellite radio users: Antenna on outside of car??
Was wondering if anyone or everyone puts the sirius or xm antenna outside their car on the roof? I know that's the recommended setup but was wondering if anyone kept the antenna inside? I'm just concerned about giving someone a visual reason to try and get into my car...Tags: None -
Re: Satellite radio users: Antenna on outside of car??
Well the antenna has to have a clear line of sight out of the car, so even if it's inside, somebody would be able to see it. Mine is on the my dashboard, but it's just a little black box. A lot of cars have the antenna's on the roof, and it's not that uncommon. I don't know many theives that are interested in stealing a radio just because it is satellite ready. If you have a nice car, and stuff worth stealing, an antenna is not going to encourage or deter a theif.G-R-I-P-P-I-N-P-I-N-E spell it bitch, c'mon that's me,

I have mine on the outside.....never had any trouble with it.There is no place like Nebraska
Dear old Nebraska U.
Where the girls are the fairest,
The boys are the squarest,
Of any old school that I knew.
There is no place like Nebraska,
Where they're all true blue.
We'll all stick together,
In all kinds of weather,
For Dear old Nebraska U!
Won't change this signature until Nebraska wins the National Championship...posted 8/16/05Comment

Re: Satellite radio users: Antenna on outside of car??
VW, for example, had a deal with xm, then switched to sirius, so most new vw's have sirius, but you can still purchase the xm receiver and plug it into the new radio.
However, you would still need to change the antennas. Have heard some stories of people being able to get both off same antenna, but never actually seen it working.
I purchased an aftermarket radio and it allows you to plug in either type of service.Comment

no, I meant I was going to cancel my Sirius and just go with XM since my new vehicle has XM built in.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

According to most of the Sirius/XM PR releases, you won't need to buy a new radio(s). But who knows?Comment
