    URGENT Help

Today I was talking to my brother on MSN and a guy by the name of someone I know added me. Since I thought I knew him, I accepted.

Then, he starts talking to me about personal accounts and I was like, hmmm dont know this guy and blocked/deleted him

But then he actually took over my computer and started typing and moving my mouse and stuff.

I have a laptop (Im on my bro's PC now) so I shut off the internet connection. How do I get rid of this hacker? Im literally tripping out and very nervous he has access to my personal accounts and such

Also, is my bro in trouble too? This guy also tried adding him.

    Please, hopefully someone can help

    Re: URGENT Help

I don't think I can be of much help but this happened to me. I was stupid enough to accept a file and before you knew it this guy had complete control over my PC. After that I couldn't use it so I had to get my HD restored etc etc.

Needless to say it's FREAKY as hell when something like that happens.

Unplug your computer from the internet, backup everything that you think will be useful, and do a clean install of Windows again. Only way to make sure the viruses are completely gone.

You or someone at your computer likely downloaded a trojan from this guy at some point. They can be tricky to get rid of sometimes, I recommend taking the guy aboves advice.

thanks for the help, but if i were to save some of my more important stuff, like school work, couldn't he hide one of his viruses within one of the files?

this only seemed to start happening after i added him, he tried adding my brother cause i was talking to him at the time of when he was taking over, so im sure he saw his email. my brother blocked and didnt accept of course, but is it possible that they have his IP now?

Keep the files you want to backup on an external drive so that it won't affect your new install. And on your clean copy of Windows, install antivirus/antispyware software (Windows Defender is a good one to have). Have the latest virus definitions, and scan your external drive with antivirus. Don't put anything on your external drive on your new install until you know they're clean. Of course, even doing this is no guarantee. You should only try to keep files that are very, very crucial to you.

Yes, only keep the necessary files.

Trojans are a tricky thing. Depending how good the writer is who knows what is on your computer. Some trojans once in copy themselves into our text or other parts of the directory and may seem as helper files for Windows.

First thing I would do is disconnect from the internet. Take the files you need. The really important ones. Sweep through those files with anti-virus program, trojan program, and malware removal. All these programs you can find for free online.

If those files pass you can keep them. Then just go ahead and do a clean install of your OS.

I would not transfer over any type of .exe file as the trojan may copy and attach itself to it.

If you have a wireless connection on your laptop, which most people do, you may want to look into securing your wireless network with WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access). It's possible that if your network isn't secure, that could be part of your problem. It's shocking how many people hook up their wireless router and then do nothing else to protect their network, leaving themselves wide open in a lot of ways.

                          Google WPA. It's pretty easy.

If he opens a connection to your PC, you could have a little fun. Post his IP and MSN account to one of those hackker sites where they don't like people who do this and let them take care of the idiot.
