Re: Thinking of making the switch
Well, what are your reasons for making the switch? I personally use cable, my mom uses DirectTV, there's not a huge difference. I'm more interested in your reasoning behind it. Is it cost? Channels? Something else?
I've never had real problems with either so it's more of a which one is better for your budget in my book.G-R-I-P-P-I-N-P-I-N-E spell it bitch, c'mon that's me,

Re: Thinking of making the switch
They both are pretty much the same., I like cable better because if it even rains it could loose signal with direct tv and if its a storm dont count on watching tv that night. And you know some of the crappy thunderstorms we get in the KC area, so cable is better for me.#4 Kansas Basketball gonna win it all this year!

Re: Thinking of making the switch
I wouldn't dream of getting rid of DTV simply because of the Sunday Ticket. That thing is a miracle in entertainment technology.
Digital Cable is painfully slow to navigate, and the picture quality we were getting was horrible.
We moved to DTV and have never looked back. Get it if you can, man. Make sure you get a DVR with it, and if you have an HDTV then an HD-DVR is a must.Comment

Re: Thinking of making the switch
I have DTV and unless I have to I will never go back to Comca$$$$$t. For the entire cost of my DTV, DSL, and phone I still pay less than I did just for the same level of programming. I preferred Comcast cable internet service, but not enough to justify the difference in cost.Comment

No On-Demand, which would be a nice little addition, but I really don't mind it.Comment

Re: Thinking of making the switch
It is coming, but we don;t know a date yet. Testing was supposed to start by now, but we still haven't got the chance to download it off the satellite yet.
On another note for ST, it will now be available online this year. So with SuperFan, you can watch the games online if you can't be home or if you want to watch more than 1 game.Comment

Re: Thinking of making the switch
Satellites will have more bandwidth as soon as the new satellites are turned on. VOD will work by directly sending some programing to your DVR and storing it in the system memory. The rest will be controlled over broadband internet. You can hook it up to your network and it will then download to your DVR, you will also be able to access your DVR through the internet to start downloads or schedule recordings. You can already access your music files on your computer through your DVR when networked.Comment

Re: Thinking of making the switch
If you're looking for HD, you can't go wrong with either DishNet (E*) or DTV. The other stuff matches up pretty evenly, except for the Sunday Ticket, Extra Innings, College Gameplan, etc. packages.
Also, with Dish, you get all the Sirius music channels. I think XM for DTV, too, but I'm not sure.
I have the DishHD Gold package. Used to pay for a NBC feed (the local one is a bitch to grab & hold with both my TV's tuner and my 211's tuner) from NY, but legal hassle involving Dish stopped that.D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment
