    Universal Remote

We just got a new 32" Olevia HDTV, and the universal remote we have from Comcast that we had been using doesn't support our new TV.

Can anyone reccomend a remote that will support an Olevia TV, a Comcast HD-DVR, and possibly a 360? We use the 360 to watch DVDs, but it's not a big deal if there isn't a remote that works, we just want a remote that supports Olevia's and Comcast DVRs.

I h ave an Olivea 32' as well and I need a remote for that tv, cable box and xbox 360. Hard pill to swallow to pay $100 on a remote though. I hear they are fantastic.

OT but how are the dvd's while watching on the 360. I actually never done that and just use my 30 buck dvd player.

Don't know about remotes (tempted to go Harmony myself but not dropping the coin quite yet). I do watch DVD's solely through my 360 and it looks great...can't complain at all, and haven't had any issues. Nice because now I don't need to buy a upconverting DVD player.

Yikes, $250. Will any of the lower model Harmony remotes work with DVRs? Because I see they actually have a special one for the 360, that's "only" $130. Would that work with my TV and DVR as well?

yes it will. It will work fine. I have one that is almost just like that. Mine is not made for the 360, but basically the same remote.

So I just ordered the Harmony 670:

Got it off Amazon for $78.88 (including shipping). Should be here by next Friday. I'll let you know how it is once I get it.

You guys should check these out: http://www.ofausa.com/list_remotes.p...+Learning+Line

Specifically the 6820, 8820, and 10820. They are universal learning remotes. Practically every button on the remote can be programmed to do what you want it to, and they support macros. And it definitely controls the 360. I have 2 of the 10820's and they are great. They take a little while to get completely setup exactly how you want it (about an hour tops). I actually bought the Harmony 720 first, but returned it as I couldnt stand the activity based controls. Check ebay: the urc-8820 or urc-10820 can be had for under $20 shipped.

The Harmony 360 remote is the best remote I've ever got. I control my lights, two fans, xbox 360 (it even has the 360 buttons on it), hd dvd, receiver and a vizio tv in my room. You only press one button to turn on what you want and it all updated on a computer/internet. I press play xbox 360 and it turns off my lights and turns everythin else on as well my fan that points at my 360 and turns on a fan that's pointed to me.

                        its only 99 bucks too.

^ WHat? So I can program it to do whatever as far as my tv, 360 and dvd player is concerned? I hate having to switch back and forth between my tv remote and the dvr remote.

Yes, you program "Activities" on your remote via Computer. Right now I have 3 activities, Watch Cable, Play Xbox 360, Watch Dvd. Lets say watch cable, it'll turn on cable/receiver and tv on the right input. Lets say you want to play 360 now, you press play 360, it'll turn off your cable box, turn on your 360 and switch receiver and your tv to the right input. Same goes if you want to watch a dvd, it'll turn off the xbox and switch everything. Its freakin amazing.

This is one of my favorite parts, when you leave your room for awhile and walking in front of the remote, the lights will turn on the remote so it's basically saying hi to you when you walk in. Best 99 bucks i've spent for my enterainment system, but its only 85 bucks on amazon.

I didn't order that one, but I got a higher model. You think it can still control my 360 even though it doesn't have the buttons?
