    Video Card Suggestions

I want to upgrade my cpu with a video card(I just have a factory default now). I haven't tried to upgrade a pc since college, so I would like some suggestions from guys that know more about hardware than I.

I don't really want to spend more than $150 or so, because most of my gaming is on my consoles and will most likely stay that way.

Thanks in advance for anyone who responds, I appreciate it!

If you have an ATI card you can download "ATI Tool" which is an overclocking utility. I've been able squeeze out a bit more from my X1300 (a 256 MB card) and can run C&C3 at full detail and Flight Simulater X at "medium" with most effects turned on (the latter is the most taxing game out there, IMO). The card was stock on my system a year and a half ago.

You should be able to find at least a 128MB card for the price, if not a 256MB one. You might be hampered for the games though by system memory, so you want at least 1GB of RAM (the more the merrier ).

EDIT: Then again, if you want the top PC games coming out, you'll be stuck with running them at the bare minimum. My only hope is that I can run 'Spore' in decent quality. I have no reason to upgrade my PC anymore since I'm out of college and no longer need the heavy engineering software operable on it.

Thanks for the reply Johnny. I Figured I needed ram, I had already planned on getting that up to about a GB. The last time I got a videocard it was an ATI which was in 1999 or 98... and from stuff I have read on the net it seems that ATI cards are still pretty reliable and can really do some great stuff like your talking about.

Hey dude, I'm probably your man for any hardware issue.

If you have an AGP mobo, than you should go with this card:

If you have a PCI mobo, than go with this one:

For a PC, you should prolly go with this:

The link I posted is better.
            That is nice, though.
