Who says that we're tampering with Gods work?
          No one knows him.
No one knows what his plan for us really is.
Maybe God wants for us is to ascend to a higher level. For us to go as far as we possibly can.
Maybe he wants us to be as we are.
          NONE of us know.

The scientific community is trying to do things to better life. To expand what is possible for mankind.
You have people out there that would want to use this science of artificial life to make things better for people. To cure diseases and such.

At the other end you have people that want to profit off of it and make designer babies or clones of lost loved ones.

Man has always been and will always be giving life and taking life.
There's nothing anyone can do to stop that.

The one thing that has been lost in all of this has been, "Be good to one another."
Our society is awful at that. It's blame everyone else but yourself and "Me Me Me"

They are not always accurate with these predictions. I remember reading books in school that said there would be no more gasoline by now.

I am sure alot of things work in theory, but to get it to all come together is something else.

If this does all work, it could have some horrible consequences in the wrong hands. Forget the 4th reich, think about what Pedaphiles and other sub human garbage would be creating.

You can say that for just about every single thing that's created.

We always get articles like this that come out. Then you don't hear anything else about it for 10 years.

While that is a fairly accurate statement, the ramifications of something like this falling into the wrong hands are much greater than most creations.

And the positives that can come from this can have just as much of an impact on society.

Perhaps, but I think when you view something of this magnitude, you would have to have the positives FAR outweigh the negatives.

I agree....but then look at a similar angle. I just watched an original episode of Star Trek today (for the first time in a long while) and just realized that they still used push buttons to talk to each other from another place on the ship.

(and, oh yeah, how come they could transport people hundreds of miles down to a planet surface....but if somebody needed something a few decks below, Kirk had Spock run it down like some errand boy )
